AHOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THECONWAY HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY SOFTBALL TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR AREMARKABLE SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2017CLASSAAAAAREGION 6 CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the members of the Conway High School varsity softball team of Horry County captured the region championship held in Socastee; and

Whereas, cheered on by theirfaithful fans, Conway’s Lady Tigers defeated the Socastee High School Lady Braves64, to improve on an 82 record in the region which garnered the region title for Conway softball; and

Whereas, namedto the All Region andAll State teams andnamed the Region 6AAAAA Player of the Year, Janecia (Neci) Hemingwayhit a homerun in the championship-clinchinggame for Conway; and

Whereas, Lady Tiger Taylor Richardson was named to theAll State and All Region teams, and teammate Deanna DeLuca was also named to the All Region Team and to the North/South All Stars; and

Whereas, Conway’s Chelsea Mitchell and Ashley Rowell were also named to the All Region Team; and

Whereas, in a sport that requires strength, strategy, and quickness, Head Coach Mike Skipperand his skilled coaching staff maximized their own experience and passionto produce a championship team and teach these athletes lessons that will show themselves to be invaluable through life both on and off the diamond; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representativesvalue the respect and honor that theConway softball players have brought to their school and their community and look to hear of their future achievements in the days to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Conway High School varsity softballteam, coaches, and school officials for aremarkable season and congratulate them for winning the 2017ClassAAAAARegion 6Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal J. Lee James and Coach Mike Skipper.
