CHAMPS 2011 Immunization Update

Dr. Atkinson is the principal writer and editor for Epidemiology and Prevention of Vaccine-Preventable Diseases, commonly known as the “Pink Book”.
Teleconference Objective:
Dr. Atkinson will present vaccine recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), highlighting changes in the recommendations during 2011, including:
- Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine 13-valent (PCV13) supplemental dose
- Administration of seasonal flu vaccine based on a child’s history
- Use of Tdap among children who are incompletely vaccinated against pertussis
- Removal of specified interval between Td and Tdap vaccination
- Routine 2-dose schedule of Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccine (MCV4) for persons at high risk
- Routine adolescent booster dose of MCV4
A question and answer session will follow the presentation.
Target Audience:
Those involved with immunization delivery including physicians, physician assistants, nurses, medical assistants, and other interested health professionals.
CME Credit:
1.0 hours of prescribed Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit will be provided; determination of credit by American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) is pending.
