BHS Drivers Education Fall 2017 – Mr. Chen
I. You will receive a DMV completion slip (DMV DL 387) for “Driver Education” if you satisfy both of the following criteria for this course:
1. “C-“ or above for Final Semester Grade.
2. “N” or above for Final Citizenship Grade.
II. Successful completion of this course (per section I criteria above) will satisfied the “Driver Education” requirement for California Instruction Permit. Curriculums for “Driver Training” (behind-the-wheel training) requirements are not part of the coursework for this class.
III. In order to take the DMV’s traffic law and road sign test for the California Instruction Permit, you must have the following at the time of your DMV application appointment:
1. Completion slip for Driver Education (DL 387).
2. Proof of enrollment for Driver Training with a DMV approved private driver training school. At the completion of this course, information will be provided to you for local driver training schools. *** Must complete 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training and 50 hours of supervised driving practice that includes 10 hours of driving during darkness prior to your DMV driving test (6 months after passing your DMV written test).
IV. Prior to taking the traffic law and road sign test, you must complete following.
1. Make an application appointment with the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicle).
2. Fill out the DMV application with both of your parents/guardians’ signatures and your consent to alcohol and/or drug testing.
3. Present an acceptable birth date document. You must be between the age of 15½ and 18 years of age at the time of the appointment.
4. Provide your social security number.
5. Pay a $33 fee. See our class website for the link to DMV list of application fees.
6. Pass an eye chart exam with 20/20 vision.
