Dear Parents

It does not seem possible that we have reached the end of another year. It has been a very busy one on many fronts and rounded off by our rather unexpected Ofsted inspection a couple of weeks ago. I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of everyone at the school to thank you for your continued support and to wish you a very happy Christmas and New Year.

Ofsted

Many thanks to all those parents who returned the questionnaire and to those of you who spoke to the inspectors. I am pleased to say that the inspection went well and I am attaching a copy of the report for you. I would be pleased if you would read the letter to pupils with your children to feedback to them how Ofsted felt. Given that the framework has changed and many of the grades that were good at the last inspection would only be satisfactory now, we were delighted that they recognised the improvement in school and that we are a good school.

Term Cards

As you know we are trying to address our poor attendance figures this year. Unfortunately the recent bout of illnesses affecting all schools is not helping our cause but of course this can not be helped. Just so that parents have a quick reminder of term dates when booking holidays etc we are distributing term cards to all families. We hope you will find these useful and be able to keep one in your purse/wallet for future reference. We would welcome feedback on them (please see Mrs Laws). One date that is omitted from the card is the 29th April which has been announced as a bank holiday since they went to print.

Parking

Could I remind parents that parking outside the school is extremely dangerous. It seems we have once again got lots of cars stopping and parking on the double yellow lines. A number of parents have expressed serious concerns about this and we will be passing these on to the police. Please help to keep our children safe by parking away from the school gates and walking the children in.

The Friends of the School

A big thanks to the Friends for their work this year. The recent bingo was well supported and the Christmas draw proved to be a huge success. Their help at and the funding of the Christmas parties is much appreciated by the school.

Spring Term Begins – Thursday 6th January 2011

Yours sincerely

Mr G Lockwood
