File Name:police interrogation

Interviewer:Yeah, this has got to be picked up right here. He looks a little nervous in there waiting for the interrogation. You can tell by the way he’s rubbing his head and stuff. There’s something on his mind. I’m gonna go in there and see if I can’t work it out, get something out of him. He’s nervous man. He’s real nervous. You can tell. How you doing? Can you wake up? Sit up for me. Sit up for me.

Interviewee:Man, y’all gotta let me go, man.

Interviewer:Eh, we just wanna ask you a few questions about what went down the other night.

Interviewee:Man, I don’t know nothing, man. I was at my girl’s house, man.

Interviewer:You go by Fat Cat, right, name on the street?

Interviewee:Yeah.

Interviewer:Now, you know what office you’re in, right?

Interviewee:Yeah, I mean, I don’t know. They just told me to come down.

Interviewer:It’s Homicide, so we ain’t worried about that little nickel and dime marijuana you’re selling. You know, we know you sell it.

Interviewee:Man, homicide.

Interviewer:We know you sell it.

Interviewee:Man, I ain’t did nothing, man. I don’t know nothing.

Interviewer:We got a [indiscernible] help me, so you just here and think about what you got going on and make the decision you want to make, and I’ll come back in and speak with you in a minute. Is that all right?

Interviewee:Whatever, man.

Interviewer:Whatever? Eh, you can either be a witness, or you can be the suspect. I’ll be right back.

Interviewee:Man, I ain’t did nothing, man.

Interviewer:Fat Cat, wake up man, wake up. All right, I got a couple questions I wanna ask you. We got some people saying you were somewhere where an incident occurred last night outside a club over on Arkansas[sic] side. Why don’t you tell me about your day on Saturday, yesterday? Start around 6:00, what did you do?

Interviewee:Man. I went to the store, man. Me and my girl, we went to the store. I just chilled out with her, watching movies with her.

Interviewer:What’s your girl’s name?

Interviewee:Linda.

Interviewer:Linda? She got a last name?

Interviewee:William.

Interviewer:Linda William?

Interviewee:Yeah.

Interviewer:All right, so you all just went to the store and you pretty much chilled out after that?

Interviewee:Yeah, I didn’t go nowhere man. I just chilled out with her, man, we fell asleep together, man, watching a movie or whatever.

Interviewer:So, it’s just you and Linda at home all night?

Interviewee:Yeah, you can call her, man. You can call her.

Interviewer:She got a number?

Interviewee:Yeah.

Interviewer:Why don’t you write that number down for me right there. So, Linda’s willing to tell me if I call her that you were with her all night.

Interviewee:Yup.

Interviewer:Didn’t go anywhere? Went to the grocery store, what time did y’all make it back from the grocery store?

Interviewee:Man, it had to be somewhere about 9:15 p.m., between 9:15 to 9:30 p.m., something like that.

Interviewer:So, from 9:30 p.m. all the way until the time we picked you up at 9:00 a.m. this morning, you were at the house?

Interviewee:Yeah, man. That’s where I was at. I don’t know why my name is getting thrown in the stuff man, cause that’s – I was there.

Interviewer:I’m not accusing you of nothing. Like I said, I’m just trying to get to the bottom of this. If you got something you want to talk to me about, tell me, you don’t have to be nervous because I would rather be on your side than against you.

Interviewee:Man, that’s all.

Interviewer:Okay. Well, I’m gonna go out here, make a phone call, and then I’m gonna come back in and talk to you, so you need a thing, a cigarette, anything?

Interviewee:Man, no, I’m cool, man; I’m just ready to go.

Interviewer:You want a Kool?

Interviewee:Yes. You got a beer in there?

Interviewer:No, I can get you a cigarette. You need a cigarette or stuff?

Interviewee:Oh, no, no, man, I’m cool.

Interviewer:All right. I’ll be right back.

Interviewee:Yeah. How long’s this gonna be, man?

Interviewer:Eh, it won’t take long.

Interviewee:This don’t make no sense.

Interviewer:All right, Fat Cat. How you holding up?

Interviewee:I’m tired man, just wanna go. Get this over with man.

Interviewer:All right, so I went out, made a phone call to Linda Williams, you say, the number. I didn’t get an answer. I called a couple times. They called back. I spoke with her and I asked her about Saturday, your day. Everything was going good until she said you got up and took a shower around 10:00 p.m. Said you was going up to the club or something.

Interviewee:Oh yeah, but she must be thinking about something else, man, I just ran one of my partners up the street, brother, I was –

Interviewer:But you told me earlier that you was just at home all night.

Interviewee:Yeah, but it didn’t count; I wasn’t gone too long, man.

Interviewer:But you left that out. Doesn’t that seem ironic to you, that that point in that story was left out? Now, I got people saying that they saw your blue Bonneville over at the club.

Interviewee:Man, I just went by there for a second, man, that was it.

Interviewer:I just need you to tell me what went on. You don’t look like no stone-cold motherfucking killer to me.

Interviewee:Man, I’ll tell you how this shit went down, man. It wasn’t even me, man.

Interviewer:Say it.

Interviewee:I just didn’t want to snitch on my friend, man.

Interviewer:Say it, brother. Say it. Bro, do it for yourself man cause the Jury, they don’t care. If I got something I can go in there and tell them in court, that the man stood up for what he did, it was an accident, they gonna listen to that, but as long as you sit here and you bullshit with me, it ain’t gonna fly. It ain’t gonna fly, Jack.

Interviewee:I’m gonna tell you man. I’m gonna tell you what happened.

Interviewer:Well, I’m listening.

Interviewee:It was Marcus man, Marcus.

Interviewer:So, Marcus shot somebody.

Interviewee:Marcus, man. He told me to come get him, man. I went to go get him. He wanted to go over to a partner’s house, man, over to a little spot, he wanted to go over to a little gambling shed. He didn’t have no way, so I went and picked him up. Marcus went in, he ran in, and it was taking him a long time. I didn’t know what was going on, so I go in behind him, you know what I’m saying, and he come running out with the pistol in his hand telling me he had just shot the dude. And that’s what happened, man.

Interviewer:That’s still not flying with me because I’ve already talked to Marcus.

Interviewee:Man. What do you want me to do, man?

Interviewer:I’ve already talked to Marcus. I talked to Little E.

Interviewee:Man.

Interviewer:So, you didn’t go in that house?

Interviewee:Man, what you mean you talked to Marcus, man?

Interviewer:I talked to him. He’s in the room next door. If you don’t believe me, you could go over there and see him.

Interviewee:Man, I’m gonna tell you like this. This is how it went down.

Interviewer:Tell the truth.

Interviewee:Man, yeah, we went in there. It was a robbery, man. We went in there to get some money, man, you know what I’m saying? We went in there and, man, I just seen him reaching for a pistol, man, I didn’t know what to do. It was either him or me, man. I had to, man. I had to.

Interviewer:So who else was with you?

Interviewee:Just me and Marcus, man. Me and Marcus. Me and Marcus.

Interviewer:And he ends up shot in the back.

Interviewee:Man, I just went blank, man. I don’t know what happen, man. I’m telling you. We went in there, man –

Interviewer:So who shot the gun?

Interviewee:I ain’t shoot no gun.

Interviewer:How did he end up dead?

Interviewee:I ain’t shoot no gun.

Interviewer:Bro, now’s not the time.

Interviewee:It was either him or me, man. It was either him or me. What was I supposed to do, man? It just went too far, man.

Interviewer:So, you’re saying this was self-defense?

Interviewee:Man, it was either him or me.

Interviewer:There was no gun found at the scene. Did you see the gun? When he turned around, you saw that he had a gun?

Interviewee:He was reaching for something, man. He was reaching for something. He was reaching for something, so I had no choice, man, I’m telling you. He’s known to keep heat in the house. We had been watching him for a little while.

Interviewer:So you never saw a weapon?

Interviewee:Man, I seen something, man. I don’t know, man.

Interviewer:All right, I’ll be right back.

Interviewee:Man. I was gonna leave, man, what was I gonna do, man? Shit. Talking to Marcus, man. Man. Man.

Interviewer:Fat Cat, let me get you to stand up and turn around real quick.

Interviewee:Oh, man. I don’t want to go man.

Interviewer:Get up and turn around, put your hands behind your back.

Interviewee:Oh, man, don’t do this to me, man. Don’t do this, man. I didn’t do nothing, man. I didn’t do nothing.

Interviewer:You’re being charged with first degree murder.

Interviewee:I didn’t do nothing, man.

Interviewer:Let’s go.

Interviewee:I didn’t do nothing, man. I didn’t do nothing. It wasn’t me, man. This is fucked up.
