Does your destination / do your destinations currently have a travel advisory? Has one been posted in the past 12 months? Please check U.S. State Department’s website -- Please be aware that study abroad programs to areas with travel advisories will not be approved.

C.Explain how you have assessed student interest in the program that you are proposing. Please include review of the student interest survey from Fall 2014 in your objective justification, if appropriate or other approaches used. Attach a summary page if necessary.

  1. What kinds of activities will be included? Please include landmarks and notable places the students will visit and/or engagement activities (research, service, field work, etc.)
  1. What prerequisites are required prior to travel (immunizations, visa, dive certification, prerequisites for specific courses included on the program, etc.)?
  1. What are the physical demands of the program (e.g. city walking, hiking on un-even surfaces, etc.)? Please be specific so that students can evaluate whether they would require reasonable accommodations to participate in the program.

Program Summary (for website and marketing purposes):
(Sample summary) This program offers a collaborative perspective on the cultural intersections of literature and photography in the cities of London and Paris. As part of this program, students will collectively engage in a study of the literature and cultures of the United Kingdom and France, paying particular attention to the cities they will visit. They will explore the cities’ rich histories while taking active part in their specific programs of study, depending on the course in which they are enrolled. Participants in either course will have collective experiences and excursions primarily when in London and Paris; differentiated course instruction will take place before departure, in the required meetings, as well as during the trip. Photography students will take a number of excursions to various locations in both London and Paris to capture the unique culture and people of the cities. The focus of this experience will be research: through their educational experiences in the program, students will learn how to become immersed in and capture a culture through the photographers’ lens. The students of ENGL 205 will focus on the various nuances of perspective or point of view that emerge at the intersections of high and low culture, national and international culture, and native and foreign identity.
