IV)  CETL Critical Thinking Grants

A)  In partnership with the Center of Excellence for Teaching and Learning, to offer grants for promoting critical thinking, to help sustain the critical thinking initiative as the Quality Enhancement Plan concludes

B)  Will be announced to faculty 1/23/12, with follow-up at retreat

V)  Importance of reflection on critical thinking

A)  Genealogy of Idea Activity – The origin of significant beliefs

B)  We do not learn from experience…we learn from reflecting on experience – John Dewey

C)  Structured reflection vs. spontaneous reflection

VI)  Student activities and critical thinking

A)  Students use critical thinking while determining how to allocate student activities budget - cultural arts, health/wellness, career, leadership, etc. (e.g., Constitution Day – 9/14/11)

B)  Faculty can work with student life and leadership coordinators:

3)  Utilize our partners and weave their resources into the curriculum – Palladium, Leepa-Rattner, American Stage, Pier Aquarium
