EDITORIAL
Hi to all our members. Well, Comrades has come and gone and so has our race which was held at Thaba Ya Batswana in Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve. As it was a new venue, we were very chuffed on how many people supported us. Thank you to everyone that helped to make our race a wonderful day to spend in the sun.
Our Race
A BIG thank you has to be extended to the Owners, management and staff of Thaba Ya Batswana for allowing us to host our race on their premises and their unfaltering friendly hospitality and service.

(Which we are working on)
Comrades
Congratulations to everyone who finished the Comrades this year and, hope to see you there again next year! Well done to Glyn Rynhoud and Denise Fox our men’s and ladies champions this year. A special thank you must go out to all the supporters and their families for helping out on the Comrades Marathon. I’m sure we all had fun.
Club Members Excel
A HUGE Congratulation has to go to Bernadette Dujardin who became the New South African Ladies 50KM Race Walk champion in a record time of 5Hours 30 Minutes and 13 Seconds, breaking the old record by 12 Minutes.
Our Cross-Country attended the meetings with enthusiasm and in good numbers. Thank you to all parents that have supported our athletes and fellow members. The season is finally over and we would like to congratulate the seven AAAC athletes who were selected to represent Central Gauteng Athletics at the SA Champs which will be held on the 6th September 2008 in Mpumalanga.

General notes
A few of our member’s will be running the 100 miler on the 12th of September. Good luck guys please return the title to Alberton!
Congratulations to the Carstens family and Tate family on having a baby boy on the 26th August 2008. May he bring you many, many, many years of happiness!!
On a sad note: We have lost one of our long standing members in July 2008, Dieter Hense. We would like to send our condolences to his family.
Our Prize Giving is coming up and WOW what an event it will be. Watch this space for more details. Prize Giving will be held on the 27th September 2008.
Also keep your eyes and ears peeled for the next Annual General Meeting (AGM) where you will have the opportunity to nominate and get one or two of your friends who you know will make a difference to sit on the Club committee to make the Home of Alberton Amateur Athletics Club a better place for all of us.
To everyone who has had the nasty flu and really can’t get rid of it, my advice to you is:

FINALLY
A lot has happened since our last newsletter, our long standing (and sagging) ceiling decided not to stand anymore. But, don’t worry it has been fixed and the club house looks whole again, thanks to the kind donation of ceiling materials from Foresta Timbers from Alrode and the efforts of Noeline Blignaut to get the labour arranged and cleaning up the mess.
If you would like to, Buy – A – Brick, please contact Andries. It only costs R100.00. Come and have a look at the club house, we have put some bricks up on the wall. It really looks awesome!
We also have old stock of T-shirts which we are selling really cheap (Samples have been put up against the back wall in the club). Come and have a look and grab some great deals.
We have a few track suits available and if your size is not available you can place an order with the Committee member on duty or by e-mailing the request to
