PROGRAM CODES
Most general category, only need to apply to one in a series and the entire series gets changed to this code – able to go into broadcast logs – broadcast logs reports – program Performance – print a report that gives you a percentage of genres that make up your yearly schedule – board members like this, can easily make pie charts from this info. When viewers/ board members/ GMs complain we air too many movies or Britcoms, I can print this report and it shows that public affairs/news makes up 30% of our schedule with another 25% kids. Britcoms and movies only make up 4% each of our yearly schedule

TOPIC and TOPIC 2 CODES
On the program offer page right below Program Type you can be even more specific as to type of program. This is most useful for the person who has to do FCC reports. But I also use this when I want a list of acquisitions available, disabled programs (October is Disabled Month), war docs, women (for Women’s History Month). This helps me when I’m trying to pair like minded programs (flow). You can use either field.

TOOLS / GENRE
When you are in a program record, click on Tools (upper left) and select Genre, this is where I code 30 minute programs, HD/Wide programs, independent docs, and KQED productions, then you are able to go into Programs (upper left) – select Program Search – select Scheduling Search. This allows me to do a number of reports – how much KQED programming makes up the entire schedule (with repeats – 10%); what ½ hour shows I have available to me if I have a hole to fill.
