All positions listed below must meet the following minimum requirements:

·  All staff must be a minimum of 18 years of age, with the exception of the Junior Leader position.

·  All staff will be required to complete and be clear of a Criminal Record Check and Child Welfare Check

·  Minimum 2 professional references

·  Must be able to provide proof of current Standard First Aid and CPR certification, Level C prior to the start date

·  All positions must be physically agile, and be able to apply proper lifting techniques, assist with wheelchair transfers and be able to physically support participants.

·  All positions must be able to participate in the following activities: swimming, horseback riding, canoeing, sailing, arts and crafts, camp overnights, etc.

·  Due to the length of the contracts, all Group Leader and Team Leader positions will be expected to fulfill the entire contract dates absolutely no vacation time will be allowed.

Program Information:

Camp Funz’Amust Youth & Camp Funz’Amust Young Adult

Camp Funz’Amust Youth & Camp Funz’Amust Young Adult is a residential summer camp. During a weeklong stay, in partnership with Easter Seals Camp Horizon, participants will experience the fun of outdoor adventure. New opportunities and challenges may present themselves in the form of high/low ropes challenge courses, the giant swing, archery, tipi camping, hiking and backpacking, environmental arts & crafts, nature games, river rafting and many more outdoor activities.

Position Information:

**The ideal candidate will be available to attend both Camp Funz’Amust Young Adult and Youth camps. The same candidate may hold both of these positions. Priority may be provided to the successful candidate who can take on both weeks of residential camp. Hours will be different if the same candidate is placed in both Camp Funz’Amust camps.

Camp Funz’Amust Young Adult Recreation Inclusion Coordinator (1) – This person will be responsible for implementing Camp Funz’Amust Young Adult. They will work with the Between Friends management to ensure programming occurs in a safe and accepting environment. The main responsibility of this position is to provide support and training to Camp Horizon staff in working with our campers, supervise Between Friends staff and volunteers, as well as, provide behavior management strategies to the Easter Seals Camp Horizon personnel; he/she will be responsible for communication with parents prior to and during the camp. Other duties include administrative duties in the form of outcome measures, incident reports and other duties as assigned by the Program Supervisor. This person will reside at Easter Seals Camp Horizon during the week of Camp Funz’Amust Young Adult and provide support as needed and required by Easter Seals Camp Horizon. . Will be required to stay on-site for the residential portion of Camp from July 19 – July 24, 2015. During the months of May – July, this position will be required to be available to attend and participate in Easter Seals Camp Horizon training. In addition, this position will be required to attend Between Friends’ spring sleepover at Easter Seals Camp Horizon during the Spring 2015 (dates are TBD). Other duties as required by the Program Supervisor.

Contract Information: May – August 2015. This position will have a total of 170 administrative and program hours between April and July 2015; these hours can be completed independently and out of Between Friends typical working hours.

Start Date: May 4, 2015 First Year: $16.64 per hour

Qualifications:

·  Extensive experience working with people with disabilities

·  Extensive knowledge on adapting activities for people with disabilities and inclusion strategies

·  Experience training a group of individuals

·  Leadership experience

·  Knowledge of American Sign Language an asset

·  Organizational skills

·  Excellent communication skills

·  Flexibility in scheduling to meet the needs of both Between Friends and Easter Seals Camp Horizon

·  This position will be required to hold a Class 4 License, please ensure you meet the Alberta Registries requirements

Program Information:

Adventurers

Adventurers is a summer program available for adults ages 18 and older who would like to participate in structured social and recreational group activities. Adventurers programs are customized to different interests ranging from city tours and rafting trips to relaxing mountain retreats and themed activities. The program is divided into two streams: Day Trippers and Vacationers. Vacationers offer our participants the opportunity to participate in weeklong, weekend or day trips; programming starts June, 2015 (exact date TBD), positions starting May 25. Day Trippers is our adult day camp, offered to members 18-24 years old. Day Trippers session will start August 4 and run for four (4) weeks.

Position Information:

Vacationers Leader (1) – This individual will coordinate and supervise the operation of Vacationers, ensuring the highest standard of safety and quality. The Vacationers Lead must ensure that all policies and procedures are being adhered to; other responsibilities include financial management, scheduling of staff, shopping for supplies, equipment and food, program & staff evaluation, communication with parents, and being a liaison between Vacationers and the Summer Supervisor. This position may have evening and weekend requirements, as well as, act as a leader in the event of staff absences, coverage or additional support in relation to Vacationers trips. Vacationers Leader must be available to attend the May, 2015 weekend spring trip.

Start Date: May 4, 2015 Starting Wage: $17.68/hour

Qualifications:

·  Experience working with adults with disabilities in a recreation & social setting

·  Experience in a supervisory role

·  Extensive knowledge on planning and adapting activities for people with disabilities, including inclusion strategies

·  Experience working with budgets and excel

·  Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

·  Class 5 License, own vehicle required

Vacationers Team Leader (2) – These individuals will help the Vacationers Lead with pre-trip planning including: shopping, parent phone calls, and booking confirmations. Other duties include: providing supervision and support to the Vacationers Group Leaders while on trips, financial management of the Adventurers budget, planning and implementing high quality camp activities, and effectively managing and supporting campers with behavioral challenges and special needs. Trips begin June, 2015.

Start Date: May 21, 2015 Starting Wage: $16.64/hour

Qualifications

·  Experience supervising small groups of individuals

·  Ability to attend 50% of the scheduled trips: 5 day trips, 3 weekends, 3 weeklong. Schedule will be given.

Vacationers Group Leader (6) – This position, as a member of a team of 4, is responsible for the direct care and supervision of up to 10 adult participants. Duties include: planning and implementing high quality camp activities, effectively managing and supporting campers with behavioral challenges and special needs, and communicating with parents or guardians. Trips begin June, 2015.

Start Date: May 25, 2015 Starting Wage: $14.76/hour

Assets/Qualifications:

·  Ability to attend 50% of the scheduled trips, approximately; 5 day trips, 3 weekends, 3 weeklong.

·  Experience working with people with disabilities not a requirement, but an asset

·  Experience implementing and planning activities for adult groups an asset, but not a requirement

·  Willingness to try something new

·  Patience and an interest in working with individuals with disabilities

Day Trippers Team Leader (1) – This individual is responsible for managing up to 4 group leaders in our adult Day Trippers program, participants range in age from 18-24 years old. Duties include: supervising and evaluating group leaders. Overseeing and assisting with volunteers assigned to the group, program planning, and camper care and supervision. All while ensuring the highest standard of safety and quality in daily activities. Shifts vary between 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., overnights will be required. One day CPI Training during the week of June 15 – 19 (exact day TBD), position start date with regular hours start June 22.

This position will be contracted between June 10 – June 26, with the position continuing July 24 – August 28. This is approximately a 6 week contract position; this position is ideal for anyone looking to work this summer but will be unavailable from June 29 – July 23, 2015.

Start Date: June 10, 2015 Starting Wage: $14.76/hour

Qualifications:

·  Experience working with people with disabilities

·  Experience supervising small groups of individuals

·  Strong attention to detail and able to multi-task

·  Experience in high stress environments an asset

·  Strong communication and leadership skills required

Day Trippers Group Leader (4) – These individuals are placed in our Day Trippers age groupl, 18-24 years old As a team, they are responsible for the direct care and supervision of up to 20 participants. Planning and implementing high quality camp activities. Effectively managing and supporting campers with behavioral challenges and special needs, and communicating with parents or guardians. The group leaders will also help the Team Leader supervise and evaluate the volunteers assigned to the group. Shifts vary between 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., as well as some overnights.

This position will be contracted between June 10 – June 26, with the position continuing July 24 – August 28. This is approximately a 6 week contract position; this position is ideal for anyone looking to work this summer but will be unavailable from June 29 – July 23, 2015.

Program Information:

Camp Bonaventure

Camp Bonaventure creates a summer full of excitement, friendship and fun. Children and youth thrive at Camp Bonaventure. They are encouraged to challenge and develop their abilities through horseback riding, canoeing, sailing, wall climbing, golf, and swimming and many other exciting activities and adventures. Camp Bonaventure typically operates on a staff to participant ratio of 1:4 and can accommodate participants with a 1:2 to 1:6 ratios.

Position Information:

Camp Bonaventure Team Leader (7) – These individuals are responsible for managing up to 5 group leaders in one specific age group; age groups range in age from 4 – 24 years. Duties include: supervising and evaluating group leaders. Overseeing and assisting with volunteers assigned to the group, program planning, and camper care and supervision. All while ensuring the highest standard of safety and quality in daily activities. Shifts vary between 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., as well as some overnights. One day CPI Training during the week of June 15 – 19 (exact day TBD), position start date with regular hours starts June 22.
