Hello and Welcome:

Hello 5th grade parents and students! This is the homework schedule for next week Aug. 21st-25th. The first HW assignment will be Monday, Aug. 21st .

I will go over the HW schedule and expectations in detail at back-to-school night, but I just wanted to give each of you a heads-up about what to expect.

A homework schedule, such as this one, will be sent home with students every Friday in their Friday folder with HW assignments for the following week. It will also be posted on our 5th grade webpage each week.

A typical 65 minutes of HW for the 5th graders will usually consist of something similar to the outline below:

Reading (25 mins): Reading and Comprehension Questions

Math: review of daily lesson Monday-Friday (15 mins)

Spelling:(15 mins)ORGrammar

Monday/WednesdayTuesday/Thursday

Math and reading homework will be due at the beginning of class following the date that they were assigned. Spelling and grammar homework will be kept as separate packets in the 5th grade student’s binder and will be turned in on Fridays.

Information:We will begin spelling and grammar homework August 28th. Also, we are still continuing to explore our summer reading novel. This means that reading HW consists of slightly different activities for the first several weeks then it will when we begin our new novels together.

Please make sure you have read all of the novel Wonderand have turned in the composition questions!

Homework club: I strongly encourage all of my 5th grade students to attend homework club from 3:00pm-3:30pm every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. This will allow them time to ask questions and have a time focused solely on homework!

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions! I have so greatly enjoyed getting to know the 5th graders a little bit better this week! I am excited to begin this year with them that will be full of academic and spiritual growth!

Thank you,

Miss Zumbro
