RMIT Business is one of the largest Business Schools in Australia and is based at 239 Bourke Street in Melbourne’s Central Business District. Established in 1944 it is now the largest Faculty at RMIT University with around 500 staff working with approximately 19,500 students in Australia and overseas. RMIT Business earns almost three-quarters of its annual revenue from non-Government sources and is highly entrepreneurial and outward looking in its vision.

SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT
The School of Management is a multi-sector school, offering both VET and higher education programs. It has 80 academic and teaching staff, including 5 Associate Professors and 30 administration staff, all located on the City campus, making it the second largest School with RMIT Business. There are more than 2,500 students enrolled onshore in the School’s programs of which 600 are enrolled in postgraduate courses. Over 2,500 students are enrolled in offshore programs.
The School of Management offers a number of postgraduate programs by coursework. This includes:
· an MBA in both part-time and full-time modes
· a Doctorate of Business Administration
· a Master of Business Leadership (incorporating a Graduate Diploma in Business Leadership)
· a Master of Business in Human Resource Management & Industrial Relations (incorporating a Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations)
· a Master in Organisation Change and Consultancy (incorporating a Graduate Diploma in Organisational Change and Consultancy)
The School also offers Masters and Doctoral programs by research.
At undergraduate level the School offers:
· a Bachelor of Business in Business Administration
· a Bachelor of Business (Entrepreneurship)
· a Bachelor of Business in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management to full-time and part-time students
· a number of double degrees in conjunction with the Faculty of Engineering including Aerospace, Chemical, Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
In addition the Vocational Education and Training division of the School offers Advanced Diplomas in Administrative Management, Management Skills, Human Resources Operations as well as certificate courses and traineeships in administration.
The School of Management currently has contracts with internationally based organisations, offering courses offshore in South East Asia.
Areas of research in the School are concentrated on health services management and organisational accountability. The School is also involved in some practice led research. The Faculty has recognised four other areas of research concentration – entrepreneurship and innovation, transport planning, electronic commerce/knowledge management and financial markets and cross-faculty research activity is encouraged by the Faculty.
4. JOB SUMMARY
The Administrative Assistant is responsible for the efficient and effective provision of day-to-day student and program administrative functions related to the Bachelor of Business (Entrepreneurship) program of the School.
5. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Administrative Assistant reports to the School Administration Manager. No positions report to this position.
Note: The University reserves the right to make changes to its structure to improve operational outcomes. This may require changes to the duties and reporting relationships of the appointee.
6. SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
Position Accountabilities
6.1 To provide efficient and effective general administrative support to the Bachelor of Business (Entrepreneurship) program, including data collection and collation, records management, document creation, editing and processing.
6.2 To liaise on routine issues with appropriate internal administrative and academic staff and external organizations in a professional, courteous and culturally appropriate manner.
6.3 To assist in with special projects such as events, program promotions and workshops.
6.4 To process enrolment and other student forms in a timely, accurate and efficient way.
6.5 Other duties as directed within the scope of this classification.

6.6 To assume joint responsibility for career development by actively participating in various activities (mentoring, job rotation, secondments and joint group projects) and producing a jointly agreed development plan identifying key areas which will assist in your personal and professional development. These activities should be consistent with the Group’s Strategic Goals.

7. QUALIFICATIONS
A VET level qualification in Office Administration or equivalent education and/or experience.
8. KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
8.1 Previous experience in an office environment in an administrative role.
8.2 Computer literacy, including accurate word processing plus spreadsheet and/or database skills.
8.3 Highly developed interpersonal skills including the demonstrated ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team.
8.4 High level of written and oral communication skills.
8.5 Proven ability to work autonomously and be adept to changing work practices.
8.6 Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks and to work to deadlines.
9. OTHER RELEVANT INFORMATION
The Faculty has established a “one stop shop” for student enquiry management. This position may be required to participate in a roster for service delivery.
