Madison earns Battle of the Books award

The Wheaton Public Library presented Madison with the Participation Award for having the highest number of students in Battle of the Books. The following students worked very hard and deserve a lot of credit:

Thank you Madison pancake breakfast supporters

Thanks to all those families who came out to the fourth annual Madison pancake breakfast. They enjoyed some pancakes and saw their favorite Madison staff members serve breakfast. Volunteers took donated books to SCARCE, which is an organization that puts books in the hands of needy families.

Shop the Madison tag sale Apr. 12-13

Don’t miss out on all the great bargains. Sale will feature ‘gently used’ children’s clothes and sports items, toys, books, games, DVDs, and small household items. Come shop the sale on Apr. 12 from 6-9 p.m. and Apr. 13 from 8 a.m. to noon.

It’s not too late to sign up to be a seller.

  • Sellers do not need to be present at the sale.
  • Sellers price all items. For items sold, seller receives 70% of the proceeds and the Madison PTA receives 30%.

Help beautify Madison School grounds

On Sat., May 4 from 9 a.m. until noon, the Madison PTA and Madison Girl Scouts will hold Beautification Day at the school. Anyone with a free hour that morningis welcome to come help. If you have them, please bring gloves and garden tools. The work will be light this spring since we planted so many bulbs and mulched so heavily last fall. If you want to donate plants, please email Jody Gosain .

Election for 2013-2014 Madison PTA officers on Apr. 11

At the general membership meeting in March, the PTA nominating committee announced its slate for the2013-2014 executive committee. These individuals have accepted the nomination:

Second Vice President of Ways & Means:Robyn Beres

Treasurer:Amy Schmidt

Secretary: Amy Fiorato

The officer election will take place at the next general membership meeting on Apr. 11 at noon. Anyone who is interested in serving as an officer on the executive committee may also be nominated from the floor at this time. The person seeking office must have been a member of the PTA for at least the last 30 days, and the person nominating he/shemust have his/her prior consent. You have a chance to vote on two district 200 issues on Tues., Apr. 9. Up for election are candidates for the district 200 school board. Also on the ballot is the Jefferson referendum. Get out and vote!

Bring birthday party supplies for families in need

In April, Character Counts will collect birthday party supplies to give to a local food pantry. Please bring in cake mixes, frosting, birthday candles, balloons, and cupcake wrappers. Parent orientation for Edison Middle School scheduled

The morning of May 8, Madison fifth graders will ride the bus to Edison for a sixth grade “step-up” day. They’ll take a tour, try out a locker and meet the staff.
