◆Evaluation Portfolio: Your grade for this course will be based on a comprehensive (holistic) evaluation including

homework preparation, participation in class, presentations, and other activities. Attendance is required. You must attend two-thirds of the classes to receive credit. As a general rule, being late 3 times counts as one absence.

◆Homework: Before each unit, read and listen to the passage several times, and then complete the written exercises. Be sure to check the glossary (p. 82) for the definition of highlighted words. Write your opinion of the topic in your notebook (about 100-200 words). You do not need to write an opinion on Photo & Speech days.

◆Supplementary Resources: Interesting Web sites related to the topics of each lesson can be found on the

publisher’s Web site at <>. Good information for speeches.

◆Free-choice Listening: Go to our home page at <→

More Listening Practice or Find News Stories or one of the other sites on the page. You can also watch or listen to the NHK English programs or other sites on the Web, such as YouTube and Google Video.
