What is this class? Why do I need it?
Math 1/Algebra-GPS Support will help you build the skills you need to be successful in your Algebra-GPS class. We will work on those basic skills such as numerical operations (+, -, x, ÷) and fractions, skills specific to a unit like working with a formula or evaluating expressions and we will help you review for your unit tests in your Algebra-GPS class. Our class goals also include improving your math vocabulary and your problem solving skills (how do you approach those learning tasks?) so that you will be successful in your Algebra-GPS class and future math classes.

What do I need to bring to class each day?
You will need to bring your notebook (with paper!), pen or pencil, and your calculator with you. We will also be using colored pencils/markers; you may want to have your own because my supplies will be limited. I also suggest keeping a good eraser and index cards
Tardy Policy:
If you are not in the room, both feet and all body parts inside the class when the tardy bell STARTS to ring, then you are late. Don’t stand in the hallway socializing when you should be in the class sharpening your pencil, getting your materials together or preparing for the daily warm-up or opening class activity.
Can I make up work if I am absent?
If your absence is excused, you can make up any work missed in a timely manner. Generally you have five days upon return to complete your work, but refer to your student handbook if you are absent for an extended length of time. You can make up missing assessments during tutoring hours or you can make an appointment with me.
What other class rules do I need to know?
· Be respectful of others. Keep your hands and comments to yourself.
· NO CELL PHONES should be visible during class—not even to “check the time”!
· NO iPods, mp3 players or gaming devices. Headphones should be put away and not hanging around your neck or threaded through your clothing.
· Come to class prepared for work.
· Participate in class. Engage. Ask questions. Be positive.
When is tutoring?
Tutoring is Friday afternoons, 3:45-5:00 and Tuesday to Friday mornings 7:45-8:15 am.
