Southeastern’s Mission Statement: The mission of Southeastern is to lead the educational, economic and cultural development ofsoutheast Louisiana. In order to do this, Southeastern has developed Vision 2005, strategic priorities directed towards Southeastern's mission and core values.

Suggestions from the Steering Committee:

Knowledge of Learner: Candidate’s understanding of the learner necessary to effectively provide instruction.

Suggestions: problems with word “learner” and re-word “effectively provide instruction”

Flo’s suggestion: Knowledge of the Learner-Candidate’s understanding of the learner/participant necessary to develop an effective and equitable environment.

Best Practices: Strategies and methods appropriate to each contentarea within the College of Education and Human Development which are necessary to develop effective professionals. okay

Content Knowledge: Candidate’s thorough understanding of the content appropriate to their area of specialization. okay

Professional Standards: Established criteria to guide effective professionals in each discipline area. Okay

Overall suggestion: Add statement regarding technology and diversity for each component. Suggested words: equitable (would include diversity issues), supportive, equitable environment/setting for learning

Minutes from November 10, 2004, meeting approved.

Welcome to our new member, Bob Smith, from the Department of Educational Leadership!

The CF Action Plan was presented and approved by the Steering Committee (12/7/04), and their suggestions/comments about the CF re-design were shared.

The CF Task Force agreed up on the following final draft of the Vision Statement, Mission Statement, and Four Conceptual Framework Components:

Vision: The faculty of the College of Education and Human Development prepare candidates to become effective professionals who set the standards for excellence in a global society.

Mission: The College of Education and Human Development exists to serve the regional, state, and national communities by developing effective professionals through implementing innovative and progressiveprograms.

Julie will email the Steering Committee the final draft. The Re-design will be presented at the March faculty meetings for the Departments of Teaching & Learning, Educational Leadership, and Human Development for approval.

At our next meeting, March 8th, 2 p.m. (room TBA), we will begin writing assignments.

We revised the Action Plan to reflect the revised CF being presented to faculty in March rather than in January.
