Instructions for the Plan of Action Project

Section 1 –

Fill in Section 1 on the Plan of Action worksheet. Think abut the answers to the “Getting to Know Yourself” handout and the paragraph about your values. These should both steer you into the direction of a career. You may only pick (1) career. Please write a small paragraph about the career and why you picked it.

Section 2 –

Fill in the sections about education and schools. Research online, schools that would give you the skills and education needed to be successful in your career. You may access your home computer, the Media Center computers, or if available, the computers in rooms 045 or 046. You must print out a page from the school website discussing the major fitting your career, i.e., Accounting Degree page, Criminal Justice Degree page, Plumbing trade school page. Do Google searches, or other search engines that could lead you to the appropriate school.

Section 3 –

Look in the newspaper or on line at job listings in your chosen career. You may use the search engines listed here, Jobs.com, Monster.com, Careerbuilders.com, or a Google search. Print out a page, if possible, in your chosen career. You should be able to find a job online in just about any career. Fill in the 2nd section of the Plan of Action with the job title and the site you found it on.

Section 4 –

What is the salary range for your chosen career? You can find salaries for just about any job on Salary.com. Give a range. All jobs start at a lower rate and increase with time and experience. I.e., a career in Criminal Justice may start at $45,000 and go as high as $75,000, so you would write on the line $45,000 to $75,000.

Section 5 –

You will have all sections of the Plan of Action form completed by now. Attach any supporting documents to the Plan of Action.
