Clover Buds

4-H Clover Buds (5-8 years or in kindergarten through the second grade) are eligible to participate in a variety of activities and projects. Some of the things you might do are:

v  Science and Technology

v  Community Expressive Arts

v  Healthy Living

v  Environmental/Earth Science

v  Personal Development

v  Citizenship/Civic Education

v  Consumerism/Family Science

v  Plants and Animals

Just like the 4-H program for older youth, the purpose of the 4-H Clover Buds program is to help young children learn life skills to become competent, caring and contributing citizens.

Clover Buds can help children:

1.  Learn more about themselves and the world around them.

2.  Develop positive attitudes about learning new things by hands-on involvement.

3.  Develop a relationship with a caring adult or older youth helper, and

4.  To learn about the 4-H Youth Development program.

Since competition is not appropriate for this age group, 4-H Clover Buds activities are non-competitive . . . they are participatory only.

Start making plans to attend Clover Buds in September.

Quality Care for Kids

Vision and Hearing Screening

Quality Care for Kids will screen our students at the Upper and Lower Elementary Schools during the month of September. You must fill out and return the application for your child to be screened. If you have health insurance, the company will be billed. If the insurance company does not pay, you will not be responsible for any service. All children, attending our school for the first time, must have a vision and hearing test before January 1, 2013. We are happy that we can offer this service for your family. If your child needs glasses, a prescription will be written for them.

Big Smiles

Dental Screenings

Your child will receive a dental screening form on the first day of school. Big Smiles provided excellent dental care to over 100 of our students last year. After we receive your application, we will mail them to Big Smiles. If your child is selected for service, they will contact you. If you have any questions, please call the Family Resource Center.

Readifest

On August 2nd we had our annual Readifest in the high school gym. There was a huge crowd of over 1,450 attending. We extend our thanks to the 41 agencies, businesses, and churches that provided school supplies to our students. We hope your family took this opportunity to receive the information and supplies that your child needs to get off to a good start.

Clothing Free for All

It’s “Clean Your Closet” Time

September 25-28 – Please bring clothes that you would like to donate to the FRC. The clothes should be in top-notch condition. Please make sure the clothes are clean with no stains or tears. We want to offer our kids nice clothes. Several local churches are helping us this year by collecting children’s clothes and helping to organize them.

Saturday, September 29, 10:00 -3:00 – Parents can come and pick out clothes for their children.

If weather permits the clothes will be at the end of the upper elementary school. If it rains you will find the clothes in the Family Resource Center.
