MINUTES 38TH ANNUAL MEETING

NORTH JERSEY CHAPTER OF ADK

April 23, 2006 @ CentralUnitarianChurch, Paramus

  1. Chair, Christopher Tausch called the meeting to order @ 6:45 PM by welcoming the 39 members and guests who had previously enjoyed a delicious pot-luck dinner. He introducedBrenda Holzinger,the new Conservation Chair for the Chapter. Brenda has an impressive resume. She is currently serving as an adjunct professor @ William Paterson and FairleighDickinsonUniversities while she continues her work at Rutgers toward a PhD in environmental and global affairs. She is an avid hiker, biker, snow-shoer, & XC skier, and a frequent visitor to Adirondack high peaks. Among her impressive and varied credits is research on transnational environmental issues, particularly hydroelectric issues and serving as the Senior Director of Academic Affairs at the New YorkLawSchool. Brenda said her first order of business will be to write an article for the Club’s website.

II BUSINESS

  1. Chris introduced the following nominees: for CHAIR – (2nd 3-year term) - Christopher Tausch for SECRETARY – (2nd 3-year term) - Betty Heald for TREASURER – (1ST 3-year term) - Marcia Greenwald. He asked for nominations from the floor. There being none, he then called upon the Secretary Bettyto cast one vote to indicate unanimous approval of slate by the members present.
  2. Chris then called onMarcia Greenwald for a financialreport. As of March 31, 2006 the Chapter shows a balance of $4,905.59. (Attached.)
  3. Chair Chris and Betty presented 2006 AWARDS: 1. Marcia Greenwald - an ADK Volunteer patch and ADK mug. 2. Emily Tourin-Crowell, Bob Danetz, Barbara Goldberg, Seymour Levine, Paul Margiotta, and Hank Zulauf- an ADK Leader’s Cap earned by leading 4 or more hikes or XC ski events up to and through 2005. 3.Eileen Berch, Deanna Felicetta, Betty Heald, Lilo Kassel, Phyllis Key, Rob Lehmann, Karen Rose, Linda Schutz, Phyllis Stewart, and Christopher Tausch.–their choice of a recently published Trail Conference map. Thesehard-working individuals are the wheels which keep the Chapter going.
  4. There being no other business to come before members. The Chair entertained a motion toadjourn the meeting. Adjourned @ 7:15 PM Chris then called upon Betty to introduce our guest speaker - author and performer, Sandra Weber. Sandra told us about several historical Adirondack women by performing monologues as each one.
