Section-A: Plan of Action chalked out by the IQAC in the beginning of the year towards Quality Enhancement

IQAC has chalked out following plan of action in the beginning of the year:

1. IQAC plans to take strict action to check the irregular students in the college. To this end the Institution plans to send letters to the parents of such students. Moreover, telephonic contacts would be established with the parents of such students from time to time. Due motivation is to be provided to such students.

2. The IQAC plans to identify the weak students and to give special attention to them to improve their academic performance.

3. To increase the students’ participation in sports, IQAC plans to introduce indoor games like Chess and Carom board etc.

4. To generate the interest of the students in cultural activities, IQAC plans to purchase various musical instruments and to appoint the faculty.

5. To remove stage fear, IQAC plans to organize quiz, declamation contests, debates, group discussions etc.

6. To improve the communication skills of the students, IQAC plans to put in more efforts.

Section-B: Details in respect of the following:

1. Activities Reflecting the goals and objectives of the Institution

A. Extra time is given to the students by the faculty in order to meet out their queries and doubts.

B. The college is very particular about the attendance of the students and thus telephonic contacts are established with the parents of the irregular students.

C. Regular class tests are taken by the faculty to check the performance of the students. Such tests help the students in the preparation of their final exams.

D. The college feels concerned about the poor students and thus extend financial assistance to such students in the form of scholarships. Further these students are extended help from the book bank of the college which provides books for the whole year without involving any cost.

E. The faculty constantly encourages the students to participate in co-curricular activities like sports, NSS and cultural activities along with academics.

2. New Academic Programme Initiated: UG &PG

No new programme has been introduced during this session.

3. Innovations in Curricular Designs and Transactions

Though curricular design is not our primary domain, yet the faculty of the respective departments receive constant feedback from the students and communicate it to the heads of the respective departments of the affiliating university through their senior colleagues who are the members of the UG Board of studies and common syllabi Committee and thus influence the curricular designing.

4. Interdisciplinary Programme Started

No such programme has been started in the college

5. Examination Reforms Implemented

The college conducts students’ counseling session to minimize copying tendency on their part.

6. Candidates Qualified: NET\SLET\GATE etc.

This is not applicable to our college as it is an undergraduate college.

7. Initiative towards Faculty Development Programme

The college encourages the faculty to attend various national as well as international level seminars sponsored by UGC, ICSSR and organized by different colleges, the affiliating university and other nearby Universities. As a result following faculty members attended various programmes.

To make smart classes effective, the faculty is given computer and internet training. Besides, they are further given training of preparing power point presentations.

One Asstt. Professor of N. R. S. College submitted his Ph. D under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Arun Kumar Jain, Associate Professor, Department of Commerce.

Dr. Meenakshi Gugnani, Asst. Prof., Department of Mathematics, completed her Ph.D in 2011.

Mrs. Rashmi Chhabra, Asst. Prof., Department of Commerce was registered for Ph.D

15. Honours/ Awards to the Faculty: National / International

Sh. H.S. Yadav, Principal of the College was awarded with “Honour of Excellence Award” by Shri Surya Naryana Singh (Ex-Central Minister and Governor).

16. Internal Resources Generated

The college generates income from the self finance programmes like BBA & BCA and also gets financial aid from the Management apart from the grant-in-aid received from the Haryana Govt. and UGC.

17. Details of Departments getting assistance/ recognition under SAP, COSIST, DST, FIST and other Programmes

No such assistance has been received in the college during the this session.

18. Community Services

(i) A seven days NSS Camp was organized in Girls Wing of College from 28th Dec., 2011 to 3rd Jan., 2012. During this period following activities were undertaken by the NSS Volunteers:-

v  Visited Old age home and spread awareness regarding sanitation, hygiene and female foeticide in Indira Colony, Rohtak

v  An extension Lecture on RTI by Dr. S.S. Chahar, Head Department of Political Science, M.D. University, Rohtak

v  District Training Officer Smt. Shanti Khokhar from Red Cross Society gave information about First Aid to the volunteers.

v  Incharge of Manav Sewa Sangh, Sh. Govind Ram Singhal shared his views on spiritual knowledge.

v  At the closing of the camp following volunteers were declared best camper.

(ii) Boys Wing of the College organized 7 Days Camp from 24th Jan., 2012 to 30th Jan., 2012. Following activities were undertaken during this period:

v  Financial help for helpless was provided.

v  Service provided to leprosy patients.

v  To awaken about social evils which are effecting our society, an awareness rally was organized.

v  25th January 2012 was celebrated as Voters Day.

v  Bhuvnesh Kumar was declared best camper.

v  To mark the Birth Celebration of Maharshi Dayanad various activities like Poster Making, Shalok Uccharan and Painting were undertaken by Volunteers.

(iii) Blood Donation Camp:- On the Occasion of Dr. Mangal Sen Jayanti on 27th Oct., 2011 a Blood Donation Camp was organized by the College N.S.S. Unit and Red Cross Society. 115 donors donated blood for this noble cause.

No regular recruitment was done during this year. Some teachers under self finance scheme are appointed every year. The college plans to make 12 regular and 28 SFS appointments in teaching and 19 appointments in Non-Teaching

The feedback from the students is taken on a prescribed performa and action is taken according to the feed back received.

25. Computerization of Administration and the process of admissions and examination results, issues of certificates

In the administrative office admissions, examination results etc. have not been fully computerized but are likely to be done in near future.

26. Increase in the Infra-Structural Facilities

The college got equipment grant of Rs. 23 lakhs from UGC during this session which was to purchase equipments. The main gate of the Girls Wing was also renovated during this session.

27. Technology Up-gradation

Renovation of Smart Class Rooms.

28. Computer and Internet Access and training to Teachers, Non-Teaching Staff and Students

Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff have been provided training to improve their skill in computer. College has internet facility and the staff members have access to it.

29. Financial Aid to Students

Book bank facility is available to the students hailing from the financially weaker sections of the society. This year 260 students were given books for the whole session from the Book Bank. There is also a facility of fee concession to the poor students. Haryana Education Society provided an amount of Rs.1000 per student to 18 students of the college during this session. In the department of History there is a provision of scholarship of Rs. 1100 to the students who secure first, second and third positions in History. Some grants may further come from the Old Student Association. Even the office bearers of the management contributes some money to this cause.

30. Activities and Support from the Alumni Association

The Alumni association extend financial support to the book bank. They also extend their help in placements of the students.

31. Activities and support from the Parents Teachers Association

Telephonic contacts are established with the parents and feedback is received.

32. Health Services

A clinic near the college at Bhiwani stand conducts the periodic check up of the staff &students of the college and the doctor from this clinic is called if some emergency arises.

33. Performance in Sports

The college produced both national as well as international level players. The college has facilities for both outdoor & indoor games. During the session our students represented the college at national & state level in Wrestling, Kabaddi, Boxing, Tai kwondo, Athletics, Kho-Kho etc. and won the following prizes.

34. Incentives to Sports Persons

The college provides financial aid and other incentives to the sports persons. Along with fee concession, cash prizes are given to the sports persons. Such students are given free books from the college. The staff is always ready to compensate the academic loss caused to these students because of the sports camps &tournaments.
