Scholarship Description
Four (4) scholarships are awarded to high school youth to assist with their tuition, room and board, books, and other academic resources. This award is available to high school youth who live in the U.S. who identify as atheist, agnostic, humanist and/or secular, and are accepted into two or four-year colleges.
Preference is given to students of color (Black/African American, Latino(a), Asian/Pacific Islander, Native American) who are (or have been) in foster care, homeless, undocumented students and/or LGBTQ (system involved youth applicants are also welcome).
Submission materials:
-A two to three paragraph essay (between 400-700 words) on the following topic: Humanism is based on the belief that every human being should be treated equally regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, class, and disability status. Human beings, not gods, are solely responsible for creating social change. Why do you identify as non-religious/secular and what issue(s) are you passionate about addressing in your community? How might Humanism make a positive difference in creating social change?
-A letter of recommendation from an advisor/teacher. (You can attach a separate page listing your participation in school and/or community-based organizations if this is not included in your advisor/teacher letter.

In 1988, Hyatt established this fund to provide financial aid to minority students pursuing a degree in hotel management. Since 1988, approximately 351 minority students have received $702,000 through this scholarship.

Scholarship Description
META's Platinum Scholarship provides students up to $7,500, payable over four years, to entering college freshman attending four-year colleges and universities or students attending community college with plans to transfer. Recipients of the Platinum Scholarship will also be provided mentorship and access to workshops.

-Must be applying, accepted or enrolled at an accredited institution of higher education as a full-time undergraduate student pursuing an academic discipline

Scholarship Description
The National Press Club, the leading professional organization for journalists, wants to recruit promising future journalists who will bring diversity to American journalism. The scholarship consists of a one-year scholarship, with an additional book stipend that is renewable up to 3 years.
The competition is open to high school seniors who are preparing to enter college and intend to become a journalist and who will bring diversity to U.S. journalism. Applicants MUST provide the following information in Triplicate (3 copies of all requested information). All information must be included in one package, including recommendations; newspaper articles must be reduced to 8½ by 11 sheets only. Through this national education initiative, Southwest Airlines will award round trip airline tickets to undergraduate and graduate students across the country who travel away from home to pursue a higher education and meet the eligibility criteria.
A selection committee consisting of national education advocates and community leaders will select the award recipients. Recipients may be awarded 1-4 roundtrip tickets for the student and/or parent to use when traveling to/from the college/university. The complimentary airline ticket(s) can be used for travel to any of the Southwest Airlines destinations in the United States & Puerto Rico.
Eligibility:
-Student must be enrolled in a college at least 200 miles from their designated home
-Student must be in good academic standing as determined by his or her college
-Student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA
-Applicants must be 18 years old or older at time of application
-Recipient must be a legal U.S. resident
