Croxley Green Flower Group

Meets every second Tuesday of the month except August, at 7.45pm at the Croxley Green Red Cross Centre. The annual membership fee is £20.00 and there is a flower demonstration each month, as well as other activities and events for members.

Gardening for Disabled Trust

The Trust helps people with a disability to enjoy gardening.
Activities:

·  Provides grants for adapting private gardens to meet the needs of disabled people

·  Grants for tools, raised beds, paving and greenhouses

·  Provides help with special gardens in hospitals, institutions and schools

·  Distributes information on garden aids and techniques

·  Providing a forum for disabled gardeners by publishing the Garden Club's newsletter


The Trust also provides a Garden Club of which membership gives access to:

·  Advice on garden design

·  Answers to horticultural questions

·  Grants from the Trust

The Herb Group aims to share information, enthusiasm and knowledge about all aspects of herbs.
They meet at St Bonaventures Church Hall, 83 Parkway, Welwyn Garden City on the 1st Wednesday of every month (except August) at 8.00pm. Visits to gardens are also arranged.
The monthly meetings include talks and workshops, covering - herbal papermaking, dyeing with herbs and herb garden design. Topics covered are:

·  The propagation of herbs;

·  Herbs in cooking;

·  Aromatherapy;

·  Herbs in cosmetics;

·  Herbs for use around the house;

·  Potpourri making;

·  Planning a herb garden;

·  Companion planting;

·  The medicinal properties of herbs.
The meetings sometimes feature a plant stall where members’ spare plants are sold at reasonable prices.
All ages welcome, and all are welcome to attend meetings, garden visits and the annual herbal quiz.
Most members are enthusiastic amateurs, plus herbalists, gardeners and aromatherapists.
Publications: Monthly Newsletter, Booklets on Herbs, eg. cookery.

The Society offers shows, discounts and monthly talks, some with slides. Three flower shows are held annually. There are three coach outings each year, and one 4-5 day holiday.

Times: 1st Saturday of month from October to April at 2.00pm.
Herts Group HPS is one of 41 groups belonging to the National Hardy Plant Society.
In Addition to a monthly winter programme they have a 'grand plant sale' each May, an annual seedling exchange, a summer programme of outings to gardens and nurseries of interest and visits to members’ own gardens.
Knowledge and expertise abound making the group an ideal focus for anyone wishing to expand their gardening horizons.
