Request for Online MBA/BBA Grant Proposals

Spring, 2015 (second eight weeks only);Summer, 2015;Fall, 2015; Spring 2016 Online Courses

OVERVIEW

The Distance Education Advising Committee (DEAC) is pleased to announce the availability of funds to support an online grant initiative for Online MBA and Online BBA courses. The grant applications may cover one or multiple online courses. Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis. Significant, innovative online course upgrades are required for successful grant proposals. Grant applications may range from $100 to $5,000 (includingfaculty stipend, student work, outside resource expenses and other items). Grant applications may be submitted by individual or co-developers of online courses.

PROPOSAL FORMAT

Grant proposals should include the following information:

Name(s); online course(s) impacted; semester online course(s) to be taught next; detailed description of innovative ideas to be implemented; budget; budget justification; and timeline.

*Detailed and clear descriptions of the proposed activities/innovations will weigh heavily in the evaluation process.

DEADLINES AND APPLICATION SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

Grant proposals must be submitted to Dr. Robert M. Schramm by 4:00 p.m.Friday, October 31, 2014. Proposals submitted will be reviewed and applicants will be notified in November if they will be invited to submit a full proposal.

Eligibility and Conditions

In order to be eligible for an Online MBA/BBA Grant applicants must submit a grant proposal and be scheduled to teach the online course in Spring 2015 (second, eight-week session only), Summer 2015, Fall 2015 or Spring 2016. Proposals may include upgrades to multiple online courses taught in the identified time frame. Grant awards may range from $100 to $5,000.

To qualify for the Online MBA/BBA Grants, the applicant’s online course(s) should already meet (or be very close to meeting) online benchmarks and quality matters standards. The faculty member must be willing to meet with Bob Schramm and Peggy Kuchan to verify these standards are included in the online course and add any minor alterations required to meet the standards.

Innovation categories

Innovative Teaching methodology / Faculty should define innovative teaching methods for the online course. These methods may include unique case studies, simulations, media and other techniques. You may review some examples on the

PROCEDURES

  1. Applicants are encouraged to talk with Bob Schramm and/or Peggy Kuchan concerning the grant application prior to submission. Additional reference material can be located on the CoBE web site at
  2. Applications should be emailed to Bob Schramm by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2014.
  3. DEAC members will review and select qualified proposal applications
  4. Selected proposal applicants meet with Bob Schramm and Peggy Kuchan to identify if minor changes are required to meet the online benchmarks and quality matters rubric ( The final grant proposal will define the course development/revision process.
  5. Selected applicants will submit a finalized grant document to Bob Schramm.
  6. Applicants will implement the course development/revision plan(s) in a timely manner.
  7. Applicants will teach the improved course(s) when scheduled.
  8. Grant payment will be completed as soon as possible after the course is taught and the proposed changes have been implemented and verified.
