Leicester Community Sports Arena Managing Director
Purpose of Role
To provide all necessary strategic direction and management of the Leicester Community Sports Arena, including full profit & loss responsibility, and recruiting and developing a team to manage the facility, including all necessary support related to the core activities of the Arena: namely sports participation activities, Events management, food & beverage sales, corporate hospitality and related services.
The Manager Director will be responsible for all aspects of the Arena, including but not limited to sales, marketing, business development, public relations, support services, facility & equipment maintenance, staff recruitment and management, health & safety, financial management, License compliance, and all other related activities.
Structure
Reports to the Leicester Community Sports Arena Limited (LCSAL) Board
Regular accountability to the Leicester Riders Foundation Board
Expected to work closely with Arena partners (Leicester Riders, Leicester City Council and Leicester College)
Responsible for identifying any support required to ensure the Arena meets its strategic objectives, including specifically those related to the funding provided by Sport England and the LLEP (i.e. sports participation metrics and jobs).
Key Responsibilities
- To assume responsibility for all Arena operations
- To build and manage a team to run the Arena
- To market the Arena, and ensure high utilization of all its associated facilities
- To build the Arena’s reputation as a top class destination facility
- To ensure compliance with all agreements entered into by LCSAL to fund the arena
- To ensure compliance with the user and anchor agreements with Leicester College and Leicester Riders, respectively
- To develop, maintain and ensure compliance with all Arena operating procedures
- To develop, as required, the Arena’s marketing and public relations strategies
- To develop budgets and forecasts in line with LCSAL’s business planning processes.
- To ensure compliance with all health & safety, environmental and licensing requirements
- To ensure all Arena users and customers are treated with equity and respect, and in compliance with the safeguarding policy and procedures
- To provide regular accurate reporting to the Board on all matters, as required.

Knowledge
- A minimum of 5 years direct experience in a lead role managing a leisure facility
- Proven track record of delivering against agreed metrics, financial and other
- Evidence of developing strategic plans
- Proven ability to develop effective marketing plans
- Evidence of building and leading an effective management team
- Good understanding of financial management and controls
- Awareness of broad sports facility sector issues, and market trends and requirements
- Knowledge of the working with children and vulnerable people, and all the associated appropriate processes and procedures.
