Apologies: David Gregson, Sally Peacock

John opened the meeting and thanked David for covering for him at last meeting.

  • Minutes of last meeting: approved Jeanette Millward Wendy Stevenson. Matters arising:
  • Focus group set up to discuss travel plan – staff car;parking; bus route – John Moxham carried out some research on buses – appears service worse than when surgery opened. Health Watch involved.
  • Church& Stonyhill land: Dr Priestley explained all land at auction in London on 27/3 with planning permission for town houses. Written to Gordon Marsden – no reply as yet. Pharmacy interested in putting in a bid to buy for parking.
  • CQC visit still not yet happened
  • EMIS working internet based - slow to operate
  • Dr Tooher sadly died before New Year, pictures taken down in Reception area at present
  • Patient Survey: thanks from all the partners for the groups work. To look at age groups for survey and targeting younger clinics for next survey.
  • Group now formed for all surgeries, first meeting taken place – next meeting in two weeks
  • Dr Barr joins as practice registrar in August
  • Daniel Sergeant happy to join PPG as a younger male member.

Planned changes/developments:

  • Dr Mistry’s practise has approached surgery with regard to a merger, they have only 1 doctor at present (using agency doctors) and their practise manager has left. Some potential hurdles – lease on the two surgeries, would keep all the staff, possible to have Nursing Suite downstairs and other use of the space, new patient area. They have 15,000 patients, we have 9,800 – list reduced recently – a lot of elderly patients died over the winter; younger patients moved out of area. From October boundaries being removed. Talk of not having to home visit in future.
  • Two new reception staff joining this month, Chiara - new Nurse practitioner joined Yvonne.
  • Three types of appointments: Same day for urgent appointments. Average week wait for a routine appointment; some appointments available within 2/3 days. Clinic Appointments also for checks – i.e. diabetes, asthma etc.

End of Year Report on website

Next 12 months/AOB:

  • Did Not Attend appointment – look at ways to improve, show figures on a poster/board in reception to show lost appointments, weekly %, improvements etc “help us to help you” (Heather to design). Ifa patient has 3 DNA’s - letter sent informing them and warning about possible removal from surgery list. Important to look at sending reminder via text message and other ways to remind of appointment date/time day before.
  • A&E attendance as unable to get suitable appointment at GPs, low numbers from our practise, possibly due to surgery location (not round corner from A&E). Urgent Care available 7 day week and out of hours. Highfield has extended hours till 7:30 and works hard to keep hospital admissions low.
  • Direct Pharmacy System (patients on free prescriptions) for minor ailments run by the Chemist i.e. nit treatment, earache, contraception etc.
  • Ask Dr Bennett and Jamie (Heather’s partner) to next meeting to look at how to target younger patients and ideas for the next survey. Major overhaul needed.
  • Hot drinks machine not allowed due to Health & Safety.
  • Health visitors now using the empty office downstairs.
  • Mobility scooters now banned in lifts due to damage caused. Electric wheel chairs still allowed in lifts.

Next meeting:Tuesday, 17thJune @ 6.30
