7th Annual Honor Chorus

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Congratulations! Your child has been chosen to participate in the seventh annual Henry County Elementary Honor Chorus. This honorary event recognizes and celebrates talented music students throughout Henry County’s elementary schools. Only five students from each elementary school in the Henry County School System are chosen based on musical ability, participation in music class and overall great attitude. Fourth and fifth grade students qualify to participate.

Each participating school will cover the costs of the event to make the event free to the students. Please review the requirements and expectations for participation on the attached page. All participating students must return a release form and an acknowledgement of participation (which includes sizing for a complementary honor chorus t-shirt). We would like to thank our elementary principals for their continued support! The concert will take place on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 1:00pm at Jonesboro First Baptist Church.

Rehearsals *Students are expected to arrive promptly and to be picked up promptly.

Students will be expected to arrive to rehearsals and concert on time.

Preparation: Students will be provided a rehearsal CD. Students must take the initiative to memorize all lyrics and learn the songs on their own. Their music teacher will make sure they know the assigned songs prior to the event.

Expectations: Elementary music teachers of the Henry County School System will chaperone all students. Students must follow all rules and regulations stated in the Henry County Schools Student Handbook. Students may not leave the designated student areas and may only leave with legal parents or guardians. Students who do not follow the rules will be subject to dismissal from the event.

Attire for the rehearsals: Comfortable school clothes

Attire for the Concert: Black Dress Pants, undershirt, black socks and dress shoes. An honor chorus shirt will be provided.

Concert: Students will eat lunch after the final rehearsal. The concert will take place at Jonesboro First Baptist Church, 147 Church St Jonesboro, GA 30236

______(Initial) *Students who miss more than 2 rehearsals (without a prior excuse from your child’s music teacher) will be replaced with an alternate from their school. We understand conflicts and emergencies do come up, but it is the parent’s responsibility to let your child’s music teacher know.
