The Graduate Internship Scheme is a collaboration between the University of Sunderland, a recent Graduate and a regional SME. The Scheme has been designed to benefit both the Graduate and the company, ensuring that the Graduate takes the first steps on the career ladder whilst the company benefits from the Graduates enthusiasm, expertise and up to date knowledge.
The Internship is a full time position, for an initial 6-month period based at the company’s location.
The role:
Stiller Warehousing and Distribution is an incredibly successful and well known family operated business with a proud heritage and a reputation in the marketplace that is second to none.
Established in 1954, Stiller provides logistics and warehousing services to customers across the UK, with customer service at the heart of everything it does. Its mission statement is “To be a warehousing and distribution company which is respected for its customer service, integrity and profitability”.
A fantastic opportunity has been created within the business for a graduate trainee to become immersed in the Stiller business by being exposed and spending time with colleagues in departments right across the business. This is a unique developmental opportunity that will provide the trainee with a full picture of the Stiller operations and prepare them for a successful career within the business. The ultimate focus of the role would be the Customer Services Department.
The intern will be exposed to and benefit from a wide variety of responsibility areas. Full support and supervision will be provided from the Office Manager as the intern grows with the business. Principal areas of responsibility within Customer Services will include the following:
- Customer Invoicing
- Job Pricing
- Distribution customer job input
- Booking in of Customer Goods
- Dealing with customer issues & queries
- Assisting with POD requests
- Effective use of customer contact database
- Assisting in dealing with sales enquiries
- Develop skills required by Customer Services Department’s
- Establish and achieve training goals in house and externally
- Administrative support for Customer Services including claims admin, rating tables etc.,
The intern will become part of a busy and friendly office environment.
A background in business administration or marketing would be beneficial for this role but equally important as degree background are attitude and determination.
Please note that Stiller has sites at Chester le Street and Newton Aycliffe and the intern might be expected to work from one or both at various times during the internship. It is therefore important that the graduate can travel under their own volition to both sites in County Durham. Owning or having access to their own vehicle would be an advantage.
