2016 Opening Day
On behalf of RHLL Board of Directors we would like to welcome all the parents and Little League Players to the start of the 2016 Baseball and Softball Season. We look forward to a safe and fun season of baseball and softball and thank you for your continued support in making this another great year.
This year we will continue in our efforts to kick-off the season with Opening Day Activities and Pictures at Avondale Middle School Fields (AMS) on April 23, 2016 starting at 730am lasting until 12:30pm. The start of the regular season will commence with games later that day.
We have planned to have all teams/players participate in one of two competitions: 1) Around the Horn and 2) Road Runner. Each division will participate in one of the events at a scheduled field and time. Schedules will be communicated by April 16, 2016. We will have a prize for a team in each division which wins their respective event to be given during All-Star Day ceremonies. Winners will be posted on the RHLL website by the first week of May. The rules of the Around the Horn and Road Runner are described in the following pages.
The Intermediate, Majors Baseball and Majors Softball division will participate in “Around the Horn”activity.
The T-Ball, Coach Pitch, AA, AAA Baseball along with the Rookie and Minor Softball divisions will participate in the “Road Runner” activity.
Following completion of your team’s activity please make your way to the Picture area to have your team and individual pictures taken.
All managers please ensure your teams arrival minimum 45 minutes prior to your scheduled activity and upon arrival please register your team (only the manager needs to register) at the registration table. At the time of registration you will receive a prize for a player that is wearing the team lucky jersey number (Please don’t forget to pick that up).
RHLL Board will be on-site to help direct you through the morning’s activity. Displayed below we have added a map which indicates locations of fields, registration table, picture area and parking. Please note that there is a “NO Parking” zone indicated on the map and authorities will be monitoring this area.

2014SKILLS COMPETITION RULES AND REGULATIONSMinimum nine (9) players or up to 12 players will compete from each team in this contest. Each base must be tagged. (Players may tag base with glove or any part of the body!)
- The ball is tossed from the field administrator (clock begins) to the PITCHER who then throws the baseball to the CATCHER, who tags home plate.
- The CATCHER must throw the ball to the THIRD BASEMAN tagging third base.
- The THIRD BASEMAN must throw the ball to the SECOND BASEMAN tagging second base.
- The SECOND BASEMAN must throw the ball to the FIRST BASEMAN tagging first base.
- The FIRST BASEMAN must throw the ball to the CATCHER tagging home plate.
- The CATCHER must throw the ball to the SHORTSTOP tagging second base.
- THE SHORTSTOP must throw the ball to the RIGHT FIELDER tagging the outfield spot in right field and throwing the ball to the SECOND BASEMAN tagging second base.
- THE SECOND BASEMAN must throw the ball to the CENTER FIELDER who must tag the outfield spot in centerfield and throw the ball to the THIRD BASEMAN tagging third base.
- THE THIRD BASEMAN must throw the ball to the LEFT FIELDER who must tag the outfield spot in leftfield and throw the ball to the CATCHER covering home plate. (The team's time ends when the CATCHER tags home plate.)
- Since we have 12 players per team the extra players must be positioned to receive the second throw that comes to Catcher, 2nd base and 3rd base.
- In step 5 the catcher receives the ball for the 2nd time. (Your 10th player)
- In step 7 the 2nd baseman receives the ball for the 2nd time. (Your 11th player)
- In step 9 the 3rd baseman receives the ball for the 2nd time. (Your 12th player)
- Any overthrows, the ball must be retrieved and thrown back to original base it was originally intended and then resume to the next throw. So for example…the catcher overthrows the ball to the 3rd baseball. The left fielder picks it up and throws back to 3rd baseman he tags the base and resumes the cycle and throws it to the second baseman….Please notice that players can back each other up. So all players can back up in addition to your extra players (10, 11 and 12), but make sure you have players at each position to receive the ball during the cycle….
