Comments/Explanations

Stewards accepted the explanation of Jockey C Newitt with regard to the dual engagement in Race 3 tonight.

Apprentice T Buck advised Stewards that he would not be available for tonight’s meeting. Stewards accepted his reason.

Trainers D & S Brunton were fined $50 under LR 13.3 for the late notification of rider for Chiming in Race 4 tonight.

Apprentice G Catania was reprimanded under AR 175(k) for accepting two rides in Race 4 tonight.

RACE 1 – LAUNCESTON MITSUBISHI 3YO & UPWARDS MAIDEN PLATE–1200 METRES

Bling Dynasty was fractious in the barriers. Connections were advised that a warning has been placed on the colt’s barrier manners.

Bling Dynasty was slow to begin (2L).

Rollinginthedeep and Poucher jumped away awkwardly.

Tyrekicker jumped away awkwardly and struck the barrier gate.

Shortly after the start Geegee’s Clang shifted out abruptly away from Sh’Bourne Devil.

Sh’Bourne Devil and Ourmatealvin raced wide throughout.

In the early part of the home straight Must Confess was briefly held up for a clear run and after passing the 200 metres Must Confess had to be checked when attempting a run where there was insufficient room between Frogmoor Louie and Tyrekicker which shifted out slightly.

Approaching the 200 metres Poucher shifted in when under pressure.

Approaching the 100 metres, Blue Tier layed in when under pressure.

Approaching the 100 metres Vision Touch shifted in away from Poucher when that gelding layed in. Ourmatealvin was then checked between Vision Touch and Five Star General.

Passing the 100 metres Tyrekicker had to be restrained when Frogmoor Louie shifted in when not quite clear.

Over the last 100 metres Poucher continued to hang in when under pressure. Connections were advised that a warning will continue to be placed on the gelding in relation to its racing manners.

**Stewards upgraded the track to GOOD (3) at 6.55 pm**

RACE 2 – BALMORAL ON YORK CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1200 METRES

Ash For Cash jumped away awkwardly and lost ground (2L).

BoderyVaremo jumped awkwardly and lost ground (1L). Coastal Rose which was racing to the inside of that gelding was also hampered.

When the pace slackened near the 700 metres BoderyVaremo had to be checked off the heels of Arapid Squaw.

Passing the 700 metres Funambulism was restrained after shifting out towards the heels of Danish Rock.

Celtic Dawn raced wide throughout.

Passing the 400 metres Beryl Bee was held up for a run for a short distance.

In the home straight Celtic Dawn layed in when under pressure.

Passing the 200 metres Beryl Bee hung out when under pressure.

Craig Newitt rider of Arapid Squaw was reminded of his obligations when using the whip.

Stephen Wilson rider of BoderyVaremo was reprimanded under AR 137A(5)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on 6 occasions in a forehand manner prior to the 100 metres which is 1 more than the permitted number. Jockey Wilson was also reprimanded under AR 137A(4)(c) in that he used the whip when out of contention.

RACE 3 – F & W STEWART SILVER INGOT 2YO MAIDEN PLATE- 1100 METRES

Whilst parading,Dance Thru France (Y Nishitani)and Udayan collided heavily resulting in Yassy Nishitani being harmlessly dislodged. Dance Thru France galloped free for a short distance before being captured. Both horses were examined by the veterinary surgeon at the barriers and passed fit to take their place in the field. Yassy Nishitani was examined by the on course ambulance officers and passed fit to continue riding.

Thing One was slow to begin (1L).

Shortly after the start Udayan was tightened for room between Wiz Bang which shifted out slightly and Majestic Milly which shifted in slightly.

Near the 700 metres Geegee Hot Novel was tightened for room by Crib Point (Jason Lyon) which shifted in when not quite clear. Jason Lyon was notified to ensure he is fully clear of other runners when shifting ground in future. Geegee Hot Novel then got its head up for some distance later.

Dance Thru France and Udayan raced wide throughout.

RACE 4 – PRIMARY EMPLOYERS TASMANIA CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1400 METRES

Approaching the 100 metres Wakefield shifted out abruptly away from Royal Beluga resulting in Nerak being hampered.

Stephen Maskiell rider of Wakefield which performed below market expectations explained that given there was a lack of pace in the race the mare was ridden aggressively and approaching the 600 metres he commenced to improve as he was of the view that he may be pocketed by Crown Consul. Stephen Maskiell further added that from the 500 metres the gelding failed to respond to his riding and he was disappointed by the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealedthe gelding to be suffering from the thumps.

RACE 5 – ARMIDALE STUD “NEEDS FURTHER” VAMOS STAKES - 1400 METRES

Stephen Maskiell rider of Terra Amata was severely reprimanded under AR 137(a) careless riding in that he permitted the mare to shift in shortly after the start and tighten Isibaeva which had been slightly slow to begin.

In the early part of the race Fashion Label got its head up when over racing. Rasit Yetimova rider of the mare stated that he was instructed to take a trail however if the mare over-raced he was further instructed to allow her to stride freely. RasitYetimova further explained that he attempted to obtain a trail behind Rebel Bride from the 1200 metres but was unable to do so and then when approaching the 1000 metres he considered to allow the mare to stride but shortly after it commenced to settle better and he then elected to race outside Rebel Bride but from the 500 metres Fashion Label failed to respond to his riding.

Approaching the 700 metres Clan McLeod got its head up when being restrained.

Miss Stellabelle raced wide throughout.

RACE 6 – THE EXAMINER BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP- 1600 METRES

Kentucky Tea stood flat footed, lost ground and was slow into stride (3L).

Shortly after the start Sandeep shifted out abruptly and hampered Mega Excel.

Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight Royal Miswakilayed in.

Georgie Catania rider of Kentucky Tea explained that in her view something felt amiss with the mare during the race. A post-race veterinary examination of Kentucky Tea revealed no obvious abnormalities.

Sigrid Carr rider of Overproof reported that the gelding continued to change stride when under pressure on a number of occasions. A post-race veterinary examination of Overproof revealed the gelding to be suffering from an upper respiratory infection. Connections were advised that a veterinary certificate must be submitted prior to Overproof racing again.

RACE 7 – LAFM BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP – 1200 METRES

Gee Gee Showgirl was declared a late scratching at 1.30 pm when trainer L Wells advised that the mare had injured her hind leg. Leon Wells was advised that he must submit a veterinary certificate of soundness prior to Gee Gee Showgirl racing again.

Another Concerto was declared a late scratching at 3.35 pm when trainer Y Maskiell advised that the mare had become cast in the stables. YasminMaskiell was advised that a veterinary certificate of soundness must be submitted prior to Another Concerto racing again.

During the middle stages The Chancer over-raced.

Approaching the 400 metres The Chancer layed in.

Rounding the home turn Tap It In was briefly held up for a run.

Lee Smith rider of Yellow Tagh was severely reprimanded under AR 145 in that he weighed in 1 kg in excess of his allotted weight.
