A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE RIVERSIDE HIGH SCHOOL BOYS SOCCER TEAM OF GREENVILLE ON WINNING THE CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AND TO HONOR THE PLAYERS AND THEIR COACH, BRIAN DENDER, ON A TRULY REMARKABLE SEASON.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives were pleased to learn that the Riverside High School boys soccer team won the Class AAA State Championship by defeating Dreher High School 2-1 in the finals held at the University of South Carolina’s Stone Stadium; and

Whereas, excelling at soccer takes great speed, endurance and footwork as well as unselfish teamwork and sportsmanship; and

Whereas, the Riverside Warriors demonstrated each one of these key qualities by finishing the season with an outstanding 22-6 record, capturing the Region III Class AAA title as well as winning the Class AAA State Championship title; and

Whereas, in the state championship game, the Warriors played hard and with great intelligence and the two key goals were scored by Matt Ayers and Austin Bakers to seal the victory; and

Whereas, the team could not have enjoyed the great success of the 2006 season without the leadership and guidance of Head Coach Brian Dender and Assistant Coaches Jeff Looney and Kevin Brabham; and

Whereas, the members of the Riverside High School State Championship team included: Josh Shockley, Ian Rose, Nick Castro, Chad Cash, Jeff Day, Chuck King, Kevin Ryan, Alex Cruz, Mike Morguet, Matt Ayers, Rob Painter, Kyle Rodgers, Nick Watters, Joe Del Greco, Andrew Simmons, Russell Mudge, Brad Kocis, Daniel Leshman, Austin Baker, Aaron Peter and Jonathan Graham; and

Whereas, the members of the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and congratulate this group of talented young men upon the occasion of their winning this truly deserved championship. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
