ANNEXE 1: TPI Associate working models

Model 1 / TPI contracts an Associate to deliver part or all of a TPI programme or service contract.
Model 2 / Either with or without direct support from TPI, an Associate develops a new programme or other new businessopportunity to be undertaken by TPI. If the Associate is interested, available and qualified (s)he would then be contracted by TPI to deliver the project or part thereof (depending on scope).
In the case of the provision of services where TPI makes a surplus (i.e. after external and staff-related costs are taken into account), the Associate may receive a ‘Finder’s Fee’ of up to 25% of the surplus, depending on the role played by the Associate in the securing of the contract and the Associate’s role in delivery. The fee would be negotiated in advance on a case-by-case basis. In the case of a loss, no Finder’s Fee will be paid.
Model 3 / An Associate offers services to 3rd parties (either through referral by TPI or directly), gaining comparative advantage by branding him/herself as a TPI Associate, which brings with it a) a badge of quality assurance (verifiable by clients by checking the TPI website) and the reputation of TPI; b) access to constantly updated TPI material to use in the provision of services; c) basic backstopping support from TPI (e.g. inputting into a training agenda, helping to find relevant material, proposing methodologies, coaching, providing advice etc.), and d) the potential input of a range of skills and experiences from TPI staff and other Associates.
The Associate is contracted directly by the 3rd party, and pays 10-25% of the fee received to TPI, depending on TPI’s role in securing the contract and in its delivery. It is a condition for the Associate to advise TPI in writing of all such arrangements prior to finalising the contract.
