MINUTES OF THE

CENTRAL CITY BOARD OF EDUCATION February 15, 2010

The Central City Board of Education met at 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 15th, 2010 in the Central City Board of Education room at 1711 15th Avenue. Roll call showed the following members present: Sally Armatys, Steve Belitz, Kent Malm, Dale Palser, and Lisa Wagner. Also present were Candace Conradt, Superintendent; Dick Moore, Middle School Prinicpal; and Darlene Darbro, Elementary Principal. Absent: Brad Wells and Shawn McDiffett.

It was moved by Belitz, seconded by Armatys, that it is hereby determined that this meeting was preceded by advanced publicized notice in the Republican-Nonpariel newspaper and by posting notice at the Superintendent's Office at 1711 15th Avenue, and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. Motion carried 5-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, and Wagner. Nayes: None. Absent: Wells.

The school district treasurer's financial report disclosed a reconciled unencumbered balance of $945,637.78 as of January 29, 2010.

The high school activities fund account disclosed a balance on January 29, 2010 of $151,490.48, middle school activity fund disclosed a balance of $15,342.51 and the elementary activity fund disclosed a balance of $21,141.98. The cafeteria account disclosed a balance of $53,958.60.

It was moved by Malm, seconded by Armatys, to approve the agenda of the meeting. Motion carried 5-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, and Wagner. Nayes: None. Absent: Wells.

Wells arrived at 7:05 p.m.

It was moved by Belitz, seconded by Wagner, to approve the consent agenda action items, which included minutes of the December 22nd and January 18th meetings, financial review of funds, February Investment Plan, option students, and January claims except warrant #22049. Motion carried 5-1. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, and Wagner. Nayes: Wells. Absent: None.

It was moved by Palser, seconded by Armatys, to approve warrant #22049. Motion carried 5-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Palser, Wagner, and Wells. Nayes: None. Abstain: Malm. Absent: None.

It was moved by Malm, seconded by Wagner, to replace the current sex offender policy #1005.50 and policy letters #1005.50E1 and #1005.50E2. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Aramtys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and Wells. Nayes: None. Absent: None.

It was moved by Armatys, seconded by Malm, to approve administrative contract for Darlene Darbro. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and Wells. Nayes: None. Absent: None.

It was moved by Wagner, seconded by Belitz, to approve administrative contract for Dick Moore. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and Wells. Nayes: None. Absent: None.

It was moved by Wagner, seconded by Malm, to approve administrative contract for Shawn McDiffett. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and Wells. Nayes: None. Absent: None.

It was moved by Palser, seconded by Armatys, to extend Superintendent Conradt’s contract one year. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and Wells. Nayes: None. Absent: None.

It was moved by Malm, seconded by Belitz, to adopt the NSAA resolution. Motion carried 5-1. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, and Wagner. Nayes: Wells. Absent: None.

It was moved by Palser, seconded by Wagner, to approve the 2010/11 NASB membership dues of $4,341. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and Wells. Nayes: None. Absent: None.

It was moved by Belitz, seconded by Armatys, to purchase a handicap bus for $51,373 using SPED ARRA Stimulus Funds. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and Wells. Nayes: None. Absent: None.

It was moved by Malm, seconded by Wagner, to approve the ESU 7 2010/11 Core/Levy Services Plan. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and Wells. Nayes: None. Absent: None.

It was moved by Malm, seconded by Belitz, to approve selling old weight lifting and PE equipment on Craig’s List. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and Wells. Nayes: None. Absent: None.

It was moved by Armatys, seconded by Malm, to recognize the Wrestling team for their accomplishments and winning Districts and the following students that made it to state: Kolby Lenhart, Connor Bolling, Jake Anderson, Eric Knight, Joshua Dickinson, Drew Peterson, Jacob Brown, Travis Maresh, Kameron Lenhart, and Tyson Sutton and also to Coaches Garfield, Bolling and Maresh. The following middle school students represented CCPS at the Merrick County Spelling Bee: Kordell Hamer, Dylan Catlett, Chris Boelts, Colton Drage, Courtney Dittmer, Ross Wagner, Abbie Maresh, Krissa Gulbrandson, Shayleen Hubbard and David Clarke. The following board members attended a Legislature Conference: Kent Malm, Dale Palser, and Lisa Wagner; and Labor Relations Conference: Kent Malm and Lisa Wagner. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and Wells. Nayes: None. Absent: None.
