“Commander’s Message”

******** REMINDER!!!! ******** REMINDER!!!! ******** REMINDER!!!! ******** REMINDER!!!!! ********

Starting with our Wednesday, January 2nd, 2013 meeting, we will no longer be meeting at the Mumma Farmhouse on the battlefield. We will now meet at the Sharpsburg Town Hall, 106 East Main Street, Sharpsburg, MD. The town hall is located above the library and is handicapped accessible. Parking is on the street.

I hope each and everyone of you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I want to thank all of you who came out for our Christmas Party at Hempen Hill BBQ. It was a great time. I also want to thank all of you who have helped out during the course of the year, whether it be helping out with a road cleanup or volunteering your time to help the camp, I appreciate it all.

Our speaker for our Wednesday, January 2nd meeting for be our own John Barone, who will be talking to us on his ancestor who fought in both the Italian and U.S. Civil Wars. Don't forget that our new meeting location will be at Sharpsburg Town Hall, 7:00 P.M. Once again, thanks for everything and if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Meeting Called to order at 6:00 PM in the Party Room of Hempen Hill BBQ, 24 members and guest were present. The Pledge of Allegiance to the US Flag and the Salute to the Confederate Flag was said. Chaplain Toby Law then gave the blessing.


Commander Wasiljov gave welcoming remarks and reminded everyone of our Road Clean Up on Saturday, December 15th and our new meeting location starting in January. Mr. John Barone volunteered to be our speaker at our January meeting where he will give us a talk on his Confederate Ancestor who served in both the Italian and American Civil Wars.


Dinner then commenced and at about 8:00 PM, our guest speaker, Tim Snyder gave a talk on the C and O Canal in Confederate Military Strategy.


The meeting was very informal and was adjourned around 9:15 PM.
