What does my job mean?
Cafeteria
– You report to the cafeteria and you do whatever the senior extempers tell you to do.
- The cardinal rule is: BE NICE TO ALL OF OUR GUESTS
- The second cardinal rule is: NO ONE SITS AT THE CONCESSIONS TABLE UNLESS THEY ARE ASSIGNED THERE
- Help the parent group out if they need it
- Never leave the cash box alone
- EVERYONE PAYS FOR EVERYTHING. NO FREE THINGS FOR SCARSDALE PEOPLE! (Of course parents are exempted)
Tab Table
- You report to the tab table and you do whatever Charlie tells you to do
- The cardinal rule is: BE NICE TO ALL OF OUR GUESTS
- Do not wander off. You will be needed if there is a crisis to run places to find out info, find people or to deliver info
- You will be making photocopies and doing round checks
Teams/Tables
- Noah Thaler is in charge of you
- You will take a desk and two chairs from a convenient classroom. You will tape a sign to the desk as to which room you took it from so that it can go back to the same place
- If you are asked a question and you do not know the answer, send one person back to 380 to ask Charlie.
- You will be given a Chromebook that will automatically log in to the network. You must sign this Chromebook out and sign it back in.
- THIS IS ONLY FOR DATA ENTRY FOR TABROOM. DO NOT PLAY GAMES ON THIS AND DRAIN THE BATTERY. CLOSE THE CHROMEBOOK DURING ROUNDS. HAVE IT OPEN AS ROUNDS END.
- At the end of the shift, bring the Chromebook back to room 380.
- ONE MEMBER OF YOUR TEAM MUST BE AT THE DESK AT ALL TIMES. Never leave the Chromebook unattended.
People assigned to Room 381 – The Pen
- Noah Thaler is in charge of you
- You are the runners.
-. You will be doing one of two things
a) running ballots
b) finding information for Noah
- At the start of a round, be in position in your assigned area to point out rooms. GET A COPY OF THE SCHEMATIC FROM THE TAB TABLE BEFORE YO GO TO YOUR AREA.
- When all rounds in your zone have begun, report that news to the table table. If a round has not started and it should have (missing judge or missing competitor), have one member of the team COME TELL TAB!
- For LD, between flights, get ballots from judges as they move from one room to another or before the B flight begins. DO NOT BE PUSHY. BE POLITE. When you look at a ballot, see if it 1) HAS A DECISION, 2) IT HAS POINTS. If the points don’t correlate to the decision see if “Low point win” has been checked. If it hasn’t, ask the judge if they meant to give a low point win.
- Once you have a few ballots, send one of your pair back with those ballots.
- At the end of both flights, check the room to make sure it is neat. If it is a little messy, fix it. If something is wildly out of order, GET ME!
