8th Grade Football Assignment 3
1. Open your Access database named Football (Remember your name will be in front of Football)
2. Click on the Database Object Button – Queries in the Database Window
3. Double Click on Create query by using wizard
4. Click on the >
5. Click on Next
6. Click on Modify the query design
7. Click Finish
8. Click the Show Check Box for ID (I do not want to see this field when the results of your query are shown.
9. Click in the Criteria field for 1st Color and type “Black” and click the Run Icon on the Toolbar. ( The Run Icon is used to tell Access to look for anything with the criteria that you have requested.)
10. After clicking on the run icon a table will appear with the answer to your query.
11. Open a Blank Word Document. Save it in your database folder with the name Football Query. Create a header with your Name, Hour, Name of Class, Date and Assignment Name Football Query. Put the title Football Query Answers on the top of the paper. Leave this document open and click back on your Access Query Window.
12. The first football team name should be highlighted. (If not just click anywhere on the table.) Hold down the Ctrl Key (Control Key) and then press the A your whole table will now be black. (Using the Ctrl Key and the A allows you to select all of the material in the screen you are on.)
13. Hold the Ctrl Key down and press the C (this is a keyboard shortcut for Copying, you can also right click on the black area or use the copy function found under Edit on the Menu Bar.)
14. Click over to your Word Document called Football Query and click below your title Football Query Answers (You may have to hit the Enter key a couple of times to get a few empty lines.) Hold the Ctrl Key down and press the V (this is a keyboard shortcut for Pasting. You can also right click on the area or use Edit on the Menu Bar.) Press Enter Once.
15. Go back to your query and click on the Design View Icon. Delete “Black” in the 1st Color Field. You are now ready for your second query.
16. Click in the Criteria field for 2nd Color and type “Red” and click the Run Icon on the Toolbar.
17. Hold the Ctrl Key down and Press the A the table should be black now hold the Ctrl Key down and Press the C.
18. Go to your Word Document Football Query and Click below your first table that you pasted and hold the Ctrl Key down and Press the V. (Your second table should appear showing the query results for a second color of red.) Press Enter Once.
19. Go back to your query and click on the Design View Icon. Delete “Red” from the 2nd Color Criteria Field. You are now ready for your third query.
20. Click in the Criteria field for Team and type Between “G” and “M” and click the Run Icon on the Toolbar.
21. Once again Copy and Paste the query results into your Word Document.
22. Go back to your query and Click in the Sort field of Team click on the arrow that appears and chose Descending.
23. Click on the Run Icon on the Toolbar. Your query results should now appear.
24. Copy and Paste the query results into your Word Document.
25. Go back to your query Click on Sort field of the Team and click on the arrow choose Not Sorted go down and erase Between “G” and “M” from the criteria field.
26. Make your own query and copy and paste the results into your Word Document Football Query Answers. Write a sentence below the last table you copy and paste into your word document explaining what your query was for.
27. Save your Word Document, Print and Turn in.
