ESA Foundation Turn-Around Fund

ESA Foundation is a nonprofit/tax-exempt organization pledged to develop philanthropic activities of volunteers, provide assistance to established programs that serve human needs, and produce new programs to improve the quality of life. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) ruled that the ESA Foundation is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c) 3 of the Internal Revenue code as an organization operating exclusively for charitable and educational purposes.

What is the Turn-Around Fund?

  • The fund is that portion of the ESA Foundation that enables members of the Foundation to obtain contributions from businesses / individuals to contribute to philanthropic projects / organizations.

Who may use the Turn-Around Fund?

  • The fund may be used by the ESA Foundation’s membership, individuals, ESA entities (Chapters, City Councils, State Councils, Auxiliaries, or Regional Councils, International Council) or outside entities.

How do I use the Turn-Around Fund?

  1. Designate the Charity(ies) you have selected on the Contribution Form as they are listed with the IRS.
  • The EIN# must also be provided for each Charity. The EIN# may be found on the ESAF website, or on the IRS website. If the EIN# is not provided, your check will be returned to you.
  • The Charity(ies) must be a 501(c)3 designated/certified organization.
  • Donations must be for $25 or more.
  1. Send a check made payable to “ESA FOUNDATION”. Mail it to theTurn-Around Fund at:

  1. You will receive a Donation Receipt from Headquarters with the check(s) made payable to your designated Charity(ies).
  2. Mail the check(s) to your Charity(ies).

Forms:

  • Foundation forms are located on the Epsilon Sigma Alpha International website: under the Member Center, Chapter/Council Management, Forms, Foundation Forms.

Policy:

  1. All Turn-Around checks to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital will be given directly to the Circle of Life office for processing.
  • If you would like the check returned to you, please indicate that in writing.
  • If you use ALSAC / St. Jude materials / supplies for your event, you may NOT use the Turn-Around Fund.
  1. A Turn-Around Check cannot be issued directly to an individual or reissued to a Chapter or State Council.
  2. The Internal Revenue Service does not allow the Foundation to use Turn-Around Funds for donations to the following:
  • ESA Disaster Fund, State/Regional Love or Care Funds.
  1. All checks will be mailed to the donor/chapter for distribution to the Charity, unless indicated otherwise.
  2. Checks that must be re-issued for whatever reason will have a service fee of $ 25 deducted from the check.
  3. Checks not cashed within 120 days of the date of issue will be considered a donation to the ESA Foundation General Fund.
  4. The name of the Charity must be listed as the IRS has them. If the EIN# is not provided your check will be returned.
