NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED ARCHITECT RICHARD KUHN

JOINS EYP AS A LEAD DESIGNER

BOSTON, MA – October 17, 2012 – EYP Architecture & Engineering announces that Richard (Rick) W. Kuhn, AIA, recently joined the firm’s Boston office as a Principal and Lead Designer. With a wide range of expertise and an impressive body of award-winning work including thirty-four AIA awards, he is nationally acknowledged as a premier designer and strong leader with an outstanding record of successful projects. In his new role, Kuhn will provide design leadership for EYP’s nationally recognized Higher Education, Government, and Corporate sectors.

With more than 25 years of diversified design experience ranging from academic and cultural institutions to complex, large-scale mixed-use urban projects, Kuhn’s work is featured throughout the United States, Asia, and the Middle East. His impressive list of previous projects includes the Tenley and Anacostia Libraries in Washington, DC; the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts + Culture in Charlotte, NC; the NCCU Biomanufacturing Laboratory and Classroom Building (B.R.I.T.E.) in Durham, NC; and the International Civil Rights Center and Museum in Greensboro, NC. Prior to joining EYP, he designed major projects in his previous positions as Design Principal and Lead Designer at several prominent national architectural firms and a Senior Designer at Richard Meier & Partners, notably working on the J. Paul Getty Center Museum of Fine Arts.

Kuhn’s work has received numerous national, regional, and local awards, including the American Institute of Architects (AIA) National Design Excellence for Educational Facilities Award, AIA National Modern Healthcare Design Awards; AIA Boston Society of Architects Unbuilt Honor Award; and many honors from AIA North Carolina, AIA District of Columbia, and AIA New Jersey for design excellence and sustainability. He was also a GSA Design Excellence Finalist for the Southern Maryland Greenbelt Courthouse in Greenbelt, MD. His work has been featured in a variety of prominent publications, including the New York Times, Washington Post, Architectural Record, Architect, Eco-Structure, and Building Design + Construction.

Kuhn received a Master’s degree in architecture from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Design degree with honors from the University of Florida. A member of the AIA, NCARB, and Boston Society of Architects, he is registered architect in New York and Maryland.
