Lesson Opener / What do you think that land

Time
/ Discuss different types of landforms and make a diagram at the end of the week.
Sign up for computer lab and let every child have an opportunity to listen to brainpop or whatever website that you would like to use to introduce the landforms/region of Georgia. Let them take the easy quiz .
/ Each child will use their index card and find the person in the room that has the same region as they do. They will discuss their facts and list extra facts by working as a team.
We will go back to our seats and each group will share the information that they found out about their region with the class. (they will stand up in front of the class) / I will place 5 pieces of paper around the room with a region written at the top. I will call on groups to go to those pieces of paper to fill in the correct information/fact about that region.
At the end of this, I will title the cover The Five Regions of Georgia and it will be on display throughout the unit as our class book. / I will have pictures from a magazine placed on the mat that are pictures of the Georgia Regions. I will also have cards on each child’s desk. We will make a circle around the mat and discuss the pictures and each child will have to place their card on top of the correct region.
*By this time they will be able to use their vocabulary words and facts to discuss as we go through this opening lesson. / I will put the students into their groups. At each group there will be books that are related to the 5 regions. They will take turns reading and sharing the information that are in the books.
Each child will have an index card with a region written at the top and they will have to fill in facts about their region using the computer. Or they can look up books on Myon and take a test. / I will hand out the region of Georgia journal that they will fill out daily. Each child will fill out the first page of their journal. / I will have some students working on their diagram project, Georgia Region journal, and some will be on computers. / I will have some students working on their diagram project, Georgia Region journal, and some will be on computers / I will have some students working on their diagram project, Georgia Region journal, and some will be on computers
*KEEP THEIR INDEX CARD. / During this time students will also be working on a diagram project that will be turned in at the end of the unit.
