1.4 NOTES
1.4.1No ABET centre may deviate from this calendar without the authorisation from the Head of Department (HoD) / (CEO).
1.4.2 The period, for example 09 to 12 January 2007 is allowed for recruitment
and enrolment of learners by principals, supervising educators and administration staff. The assistance of one supervising educator per satellite is allowed for ten hours per week. Educators may recruit voluntarily.
1.4.3District offices must apply this calendar for the payment of part-time salary
claims.
1.4.4Claims for tuition on Fridays and Saturdays will only be considered when
the written permission of relevant District Senior Manager is attached. N.B.
Permission may largely be influenced by the availability of a budget for this
purpose.
1.4.5For the Level 4 academic year in 2007, tuition for remuneration will
continue until the last scheduled tuition day before the subject / learning
area is written, for example, if a Mathematics subject / learning area is to
be written on Tuesday, 23 October 2007 – tuition for remuneration will
stop on the 20 October 2007, or on the 23 October 2007, depending on
the approved timetable.
1.4.6 For Grade 12 adult learners, tuition for remuneration will continue until the
last scheduled tuition day before the subject is written, that is, if a subject
is to be written on Monday, 22 October 2007 – tuition for remuneration will
stop on the 19 October 2007.
1.4.7As the curriculum for all ABET levels requires an increase in tuition time,
District Offices are advised to increase the previous maximum tuition for
remuneration of six (6) hours per week per educator to a maximum of
eight (8) hours per week per educator.
1.4.8Supervising educators may claim a maximum of ten (10) hours per week.
1.4.9Chief invigilators and relief invigilators who are not in the
services of the GDE may claim for invigilation. The claims are to be
submitted to District Offices and Assistant Directors in the Exam Units of
Districts will assist them accordingly.
