PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO ASSIGNMENT #4 (30%)

The Professional Portfolio assignment is designed to prepare you for job interviews, and your transition to the teaching profession.

DUE DATE: All portfolios are due 1stMethods class, week of April 8-12, directly to your Method’s professor. You may submit your portfolio earlier in the week if you wish. Do not ask for your portfolio back earlier than when the professor is ready. Keep originals and/or make duplicates of any important documents in advance of submission deadline.

EXPECTATIONS: The pre-service teacher will:

  1. develop a Professional Portfolio that reflects the Standards of Practice for the Teaching Profession stated by the Ontario College of Teachers:
  2. develop a Professional Portfolio that demonstrates knowledge, skills, attitudes and experiences that are relevant to exemplary teaching practices.

PROCEDURES:

  • Each teacher candidate will develop, select, and assemble a collection of specific artefacts into an organized professional portfolio
  • (*) –One quality extra artefact must be added per section; Some artefacts may come from work in other courses such as Ed & Schooling, Special Ed., Curriculum Development & Evaluation, teachables, etc.
  • Do not wait until 2-3weeks prior to April 12, 2013 to complete the portfolio. Collection and selection of artefacts should be an on-going process throughout Sept-March, requiring your self-initiative & organization skills, with most finished during Block IV.

FORMAT:

  • For a print professional portfolio – all documents must be in transparent sleeves
  • For both print and digital portfolio - print "Professional Portfolio of (your name)", date, professor’s name, and section number on binder or CD cover, or home page of website,
