2016–17RAMP Challenge Grant Application
The RAMP Challenge Grant is an opportunity for eligible participants to earn $600 in additional grant aid. A limited number of grants are available and not all applicants will receive an award.To be eligible, you must meet all three of the following criteria:
freshman or sophomore (at the beginning of fall quarter)
good academic standing (by the end of winter quarter)
receiving a Pell grant
Please carefully read all instructions and details of the application. There are severalrequired activitiesand an essay prompt. You cannot submit an application without completing all the requirements.

Essay Prompt
Research the history of TRIO. Consider the information you find and your own experiences and write a letter to your congressperson explaining the benefits of TRIO to individual students and to society in general and provide the best reasons, in your opinion, for continued funding of these programs.
Search the following sitesto find your congressperson:
Do NOT put your name in or on your essay. Your essay should be approximately 1.5-2.5 pages or 500 words and must be double-spaced, with one-inch margins, using 12-point Times New Roman font. You are required to have a UWC or EOP tutor review a draft of your essay (be sure the tutor stamps and signs your essay as proof of attendance).
Your essay will be scored based on the following criteria: 1) adequately addressedthe prompt; 2) expressed ideas in a thoughtful, fully developed manner; 3) attended UWC or EOP tutoring and demonstrated effort in revision; and4) followed the specified format.
