IFRTT December 2009 Newsletter

Dear IFRTT Forum subscriber,

Just in time for the final days of the Copenhagen climate conference. Father Winter (King "Bore" in Swedish, from Greek Borealis, the Northern Wind) sent a dedicated message about who is in charge: snow, strong icy winds and temperatures below - 30 centigrade in the North.

Time to pull the knitted cap well below your ears, put on gloves and winter trousers and the Siberian pair of boots. For the car, get the snowbrush, ice-scraper, winter tyres, anti-freeze wiper fluid and put on the "rattmuff".

No wonder I long for the HVTT11 conference in Melbourne in March.

Please visit the website www.hvttconference.com , there are some good news.

A video presenting the venue by Nick Dimopoulos, HVTT11 Organising Committee Chairman and CEO of the Australian National Transport Commission.

At the news page, two new articles from conference magazine Prime Mover, one interview with Philip Lovel, CEO of the Victorian Transport Association, titled "Grasping the Opportunity" and one interview with Jorgen Christiansen, overseeing the OECD/ITF research team, they will have a dedicated plenary, titled "Setting the Standard". More to come.

Clicking on "Brochure" at the home page you will find the first version of the full programme in pdf. It looks excellent and very interesting with about 50 presentations, each given a full half hour including Q&A and another 10 presentations in the plenaries.

Do not forget to register, it is a 250 AUSD, about 150 euros, saving if you register before end of January, more than enough to buy surfer shorts for your entire family for Christmas.

Regardless of the Copenhagen outcomes, look ahead for a sustainable brighter future including your participation at the HVTT11!

Drive safely and have a peaceful Christmas,

Anders Lundstrom,

IFRTT President
