Wednesday 4th September 2013

Dear parents and carers,

With our trip to Parson House coming up next week, from Wednesday 11th – Friday 13th September, it is time to think about some final checks and bits of information to help the trip to run as smoothly as possible.

In this letter you will find some important information about the trip:

  • Equipment list
  • Timetable of activities
  • Parson House consent form (needs to be returned by Friday)

We thank you for your payments so far. For some of you there are still outstanding payments to be settled before we go next Wednesday. We would be grateful if this could be sorted out as soon as possible. Don’t hesitate to contact me or Mrs Wileman if you have any concerns about the trip or payment arrangements.

On the Wednesday, we will set off from school at around 11am and walk across Blacka Moor to Parson House, stopping for a packed lunch along the way. You will need to ensure that children come in suitable clothes and footwear for a country walk, with a packed lunch and drinks in a backpack. If it is raining we will still be walking so please ensure that children are appropriately dressed.

Equipment you need to bring (in a suitable bag or case)

Nightwear such as pyjamas

2 or 3 pairs outdoor trousers that will get wet / dirty

Leisure wear/tracksuit etc. including for indoor wear. Again, make sure you have clothing for activities which may be dirty/ wet!

T-shirts / jumper

Underwear

Warm coat/anorak/fleece

Waterproof coat

Toothbrush and paste

Shampoo/shower gel

Towel

Torch

Camera (child’s responsibility)

Water bottle

Please ensure that any necessary medication is brought, clearly labelled and that we are kept fully informed about this.

Other useful information

  • There is a tuck shop onsite which also sells souvenirs. Children may bring up to £5 spending money, which needs to be handed to us in a labelled bag or wallet on the Wednesday.
  • We will have access to a drying room for clothes/shoes (hopefully we won’t need to use it!)
  • Please consider whether you would like us to give your child a dose of Calpol if they are feeling unwell and we feel it is necessary – see slip below
  • Please make sure that the arrangements for your child to be collected at 3.30pm on Friday afternoon are in place.
  • Please watch the weather forecast closely in the days before the visit. Hopefully it will be warm and sunny in September but the weather can still be unpredictable in the countryside. The key is to have lots of layers available – they can always be taken off but there’s nothing worse than being cold through!
  • PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW YOUR CHILD TO BRING A MOBILE PHONE. CHILDREN OFTEN ONLY GET HOMESICK WHEN THEY HEAR THEIR PARENTS’ VOICES!
