CIKC Annual Meeting
The annual meeting was held Sept 25th at O’Charley’s in Champaign, IL
The Nomination Committee consisting of chair Elise Singer, Larry Brown, and Rick Knight. Elise presented the slate of officers for the coming year. Elected officers for the 2012-2013 fiscal year are listed above.
The Annual Awards were presented and are listed below.
Dues are now past due!
The deadline for the 2012-2013 membership dues was Sept 30, 2012.
Dues are:
$15.00/yr for adults
$5.00/yr. for juniors

Fall Conformation Classes
The Fall Conformation classes for the
Champaign Illinois Kennel Club began on Wed. Sept 19th, 2012 at the Dog Training Club of Champaign-Urbana.
The dates are as follows:
Sept 19th, 26th, Oct 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th
Classes are as follows:
6:15pm - Puppy Socialization – A time for puppies to be brought in for interaction with people and other puppies.
6:30pm- Beginning/Novice Conformation – For New handlers, puppies and/or dogs just starting conformation showing.This class may move at a slower pace and will cover stacking, gaiting, and general presentation of the show dog.
7:30pm- Advanced Conformation – Open to all handlers with prior experience. This class will focus on ring procedures and practice perfecting ring skills.
Drop-ins will only be allowed in the 7:30pm. class unless prier arrangements have been made with the class coordinator during this session.
Drop-in fee - $10.00 per hour per person.
Please Note- Use your discretion if weather is a question. Closings will be announced on WCIA TV, CIKC on Facebook, DTCCU on Twitter (If the Dog Training Club Classes are canceled…we are not holding classes either)
Please bring an updated copy of your dog's vaccination record including proof of rabies with you on the first night of class to be kept in our files.

Please Remember:
*All participants and their guests are expected to follow the guidelines set forth
by both clubs at all times while on the grounds.
*It is required that all participants pick up after their dogs. Use only the areas marked for this purpose. Equipment is available on the grounds along with a proper outside disposal area. If clean-up is needed inside the building, please dispose of all solid waste outside in the disposal area.
*Remember that humane treatment of your dogs is imperative at all times, but especially while on club grounds.
*Bitches in season are not allowed to participate. Please contact the class coordinator if you are unable to attend due to your female coming in season. Beginning handlers are encouraged to come and watch.
*Also remember that Handicapped Parking areas are only for those with the correct parking passes properly displayed.
Responsible Dog Owners Day
CIKC is once again participating in the Responsible Dog Owners Day held at Prairieland Feeds Sunday Oct 7th. Anyone wishing to help should contact Sylvia Lofrano or Chris Eliason.
Annual Awards
Presented at the annual meeting were the Photo plaques given to those eligible members who earned an "AKC Conformation Championship" title on a dog since Labor Day of last year. An engraved plate was also given for “Grand Championship”.

CIKC Show Trophy Donations
Here is a reminder to getyour trophy donations for next years shows sent in to Chris Eliason.
Thursday - $25.00 Group trophies only.
Saturday - $25.00 Group and$6.00 Breed trophies.
Aswe have done in the past two years, our Group awards will go to the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Research.
This year our theme is 'Third Time's the Charm'so our breed trophies will be dog charm key rings.
Not all of our breeds will be represented but I did buy a few generic dog themed key rings if you'd still like to award your breed winner.

Upcoming Discussion at Springfield Show
Marty Greer, DVM, will be speak at the October 20, 2012 Sandemac show at the State Fair Grounds in Springfield. Her program is entitled: What to Do when Animal Control Comes Knocking. Dr. Greer shows dogs in conformation and is very aware of issues concerning dog breeders and exhibitors.It has been stated that the seminar will occur after BIS. More information may be available at the Illinois Federation of Dog Clubs and Owners (IFDCO) Facebook page.
Pause in Legislation during the Election Period
For the most part there has been a pause in legislative actions at both the federal and state levels during the weeks preceding the upcoming elections. There will be initiatives that reappear after the elected members return to sessions.

GCH. TES Crack the Code and Ch. TES Topwyre A Beautiful Mind (co-owned with Lori Yotter) both achieved their Jr. Earth Dog title today at Purina Farms. A fun time was had by all!!!

CH DorianWilliam F Brindle, Basenji, took a Hound Group 1 at Danville IL Kennel Club, which finished him entirely from the “Bred By Exhibitor” class with a 4-point major from the group. ~Lou DiBello
