The course content (assignments, help tools, textbook, etc.) will be delivered in MyMathLab via the MyLabsPlus website for unt: Your username is yourUNT email address and your temporary password is ?????? (Note to instructors: I believe the temporary password is going to be “math1710”).
In your online course you can view the textbook and submit homework assignments. It is not necessary to have a print copy of the textbook. You can purchase an access code at the bookstore. Temporary access is available, but will expire after 21 days.
Attendance: Attendance is necessary. 4 absents result in you being dropped from the class.
Course Description: Limits and continuity, derivatives and integrals; differentiation and integration of polynomial, rational, trigonometric, and algebraic functions; applications, including slope, velocity, extrema, area, volume and work.
Prerequisite(s): MATH 1650; or both MATH 1600 and MATH 1610.
Calculators: TI 83, TI 83 Plus, TI 84, TI 84 Plus or equivalent, their use will be supported in class. Examples of calculators not allowed: TI-Nspires, TI 89’s, TI 92’2 or any other utility with alphanumeric/CAS capabilities ARE NOT permitted. A calculator may not be shared during an exam.
Grading Scheme:
Exams – 60% (3)
Online Homework – 10%
Online Homework – 5%
Quizzes – 5%
Final Exam – 20%
Make-up Policy: No make-up exams. If there is an emergency (only related to you), then and then only there is a room for a make-up exam.
I have the right to decide whether a given situation is an emergency or not. Let us hope it never comes to that point.
Recitation: The recitation instructor and I will work in close collaboration to see you all successful, but the grade would have to be earned by you. Quizzes will be given during the recitations, and home works will also be collected during the recitations.

START WORKING NOW: The best way to ensure you pass this course is to work consistently throughout the semester. In mathematics courses topics always build one upon the other making it very difficult to catch up later if you fall behind. If you need to pass this course because it is your last semester, your financial aid depends on it, your scholarship depends on it, or your parent/guardian has threatened to harm you in some manner then do yourself a favor and start studying right away. I will not entertain any pleas for extra credit or offers to do additional work at the end of the semester.
