Turning on and connecting your SmartBoard:

1.  Make sure your projector and smart board are on. There is a power button on the actual projector itself. Once the power is on, you should see a green light on the bottom right corner of your smartboard indicating that it is on and connected.

2.  Connect your laptop to the docking station.

3.  Projecting from the laptop to the smartboard: The newer smartboards automatically connect when you dock your computer, if this is not the case refer to the next step.

4.  Hold down the “fn” button ( located on the bottom left of your keyboard) and the “f4” button located directly above the # 4 (top left) at the SAME TIME. You will see this on your screen

5.  Click the “Duplicate” box. This will give you a display on the smartboard as well as on the computer. This is also how you can stop projecting on the board while still keeping your latptop on the docking station. For this you would just hit “Computer Only”.

Calibrating your SmartBoard:

1.  There are two ways to initiate calibration. To calibrate from the SmartBoard itself, hold down the two buttons next to the markers at the same time. Use the marker or your finger to calibrate.

2.  If the two buttons don’t work (ours never do), go through the following steps:

a.  Click on the windows button on the bottom left of your computer screen.

b.  Click “All Programs”

c.  Find the “SMART Technologies” folder and click it

d.  Click the “SMART Tools” folder

e.  Select “Product Drivers Orient”

f.  Use the marker or your finger to orient the board.

To move an object or objects:

1. Select the object or objects.

2. Drag the object or objects to a new position on the page.

To resize an object:

1. Select the object.

2. Press the object’s resize handle (the gray circle), and then drag it to increase or reduce the object’s size.

To rotate an object:

1. Select the object.

2. Press the object’s rotation handle (the green circle), and then drag it in the direction you want to rotate the object.

Moving the order of an object:

To move an object to the front of the stack

1. Select the object.

2. Press the object’s menu arrow, and then select Order > Bring to Front.

To move an object to the back of the stack

1. Select the object.

2. Press the object’s menu arrow, and then select Order > Send to Back.

Grouping:

1. Select the objects.

2. Press the menu arrow of any one of the selected objects, and then select Grouping > Group.

Or- Select all objects you want to group and use the shortcut : ctrl + G

To add a link to an object:

1. Select the object.

2. Right click on the object and select link.

A. To add a web page link, press Web Page, and then type the web address in the Address box.

B. To add a link to another page in the file, press Page in this File, and then select an option in the Select a page area.

C. To add a link to a file on your computer, press File on this Computer, and then type the file’s location and name in the File box. Select Copy of file to attach a copy to your .notebook file

D. To add a link to an attachment, press Current Attachments, and then select the attachment in the list.

4. If you want to open the link by pressing an icon, select Corner icon. OR If you want to open the link by pressing anywhere in the object, select Object

To animate an object:

1. Select the object.

2. If the Properties tab isn’t visible, press Properties.

3. Press Object Animation.

4. Select options in the Type, Direction, Speed, Occurs and Repeats drop-down lists.

1.  Click on tab on left hand side with a puzzle piece. Click Activity Builder.

2.  Select object and then select edit. Blue diagonal lines will appear on the object selected.

3.  Click and drag all objects you want to be entered into that field to the Accept these objects box. All objects that do not belong to that category- click and drag them into reject these objects box. Then click done.

4.  After your students play the interactive game, select reset all button.
