Job TitleSenior Sports Coach / Instructor

Outline of Duties
To organise, develop and deliver high quality coaching sessions from foundation to performance level or to carry out instruction that maintains or leads to a recognized qualification
- To organise, lead and deliver sports activities or training sessions to a variety of client groups of varying ages and abilities
- To plan, prepare and evaluate progressive lesson plans for each activity or training session.
- To brief all coaches on the content of lesson plans prior to the start of each course
- To prepare the coaching / teaching venue including the setting up, and dismantlingof any equipment.
- To ensure all coaches are delivering high standards of customer service in line with customer care policies and guidelines
- To ensure all coaches inspect all equipment prior to and after use to ensure it is safe for participants to use.
- To carry out / oversee any associated administration task including maintenance of class registers, updating records, preparation of lesson plans and the collection and recoding of course fees where appropriate.
- To ensure thorough personal preparation for each coaching / instruction session, including the preparation of lesson plans, teaching aids, handouts andany other relevant material.
- To ensure that course material / candidate packs are available and distributed to candidates.
- To assist with the promotion of coaching sessions
- To carry out coaching / instruction duties in a professional manner and in line with governing body guidelines where appropriate.
- To provide all coaches with clear instructions prior to and during the session.
- To supervise all coaches, staff, candidates during the session
- To provide sickness and holiday cover at facilities across [X]
- To advise, support and offer encouragement to all participants
- To promote positive, and active participation in sport / physical activity while being a positive role model for [X] Council and the sport itself.
- To ensure that all activities are delivered in line with [X] Council Policies and Procedures, in particular the Child Protection Policy, Health and Safety Policy and Coaches Code of Conduct.
- To provide emergency first aid treatment as necessary and where appropriate.
- To report all accidents in line with [X] Council protocols.
- To report any child protection issues in line with [X] Council protocols.
- To deal with any comment, complaint or compliment in line with the departments procedures
- To incorporate national governing body award schemes within sessions where appropriate.
- To deliver CPD sessions for other staff and coaches
- To maintain regular contact with you line manager and provide reports and statistics as an when required
- To undertake personal development or sports specific training as and when required.
- Any other duties relevant to the post as required by the Line Manager.
