VCAA VET, VCAL & DEECD Statewide Briefings 2011

The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) and Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD)are conducting briefings to update schools and providers on information regarding VET and VCAL. These briefings will take place in each DEECD region across Victoria during November and December.The attached page provides details of locations and dates.

Schools/Providers are invited to send appropriate personnel; it is recommended that VET and VCAL coordinators attend to ensure that the school/provider has access to all program information for 2012. Other staff including Careers/Transition/MIPS Coordinators and senior school management may wish to attend.

Briefings will commence at 9:30am and run until 3:00pm. Morning tea and lunch will be provided.

The briefingswill include:

  • VET update for 2012, including VCE VET programs, scored assessment, apprenticeships and traineeships and State and Federal VET policy
  • VET workshops covering partnerships for VETiS and quality provision of VET to VCE/VCAL students
  • Update on funding for VETiS and a discussion concerning the changes toVCAL coordination funding from 2012
  • VCAL update for 2012
  • VCAL workshop covering the revised Personal Development Skills (PDS) for 2012.

All persons attending are asked to register individually by Wednesday2Novemberso that numbers and catering requirements can be confirmed.

Sessiontimes are provided on the attached schedule. An opportunity will be provided for questions and discussion and an information pack will be issued at the briefings.

The session on Friday 2 December will also be available through video conferencing. Participants wishing to avail themselves of the video conferencing option will need to select “video conference” on the online registration form. Further details will be emailed to these participants.
