How to apply

  1. Complete the application form electronically and returntwo copies, signed and dated,by post to British Council Northern Ireland, 7th Floor, The Boat, 49 Queens Square, Belfast BT1 3FG.
  1. If you are currently a student or have graduated in the past 4 years,ask your tutor to submit a reference in support of your application. This can be included with your application or posted separately to the address listed above.Only the template provided on our website can be accepted. Please do not submit extra references. Your tutor should be able to comment on your Irish language capability.
  1. If you have not been a student in the past 4 years,please request a reference from someone who can comment on your Irish language capability. This can be a work reference or personal reference. This can be included with your application or posted separately to the address listed above. Only the template provided on our website can be accepted. Please do not submit extra references.
  1. If you are a current or former Irish Language Assistant re-applying for 2016 -2017,ask your current/previous employing schoolto submit a recommendation letter in support of your application. If your school wishes to reemploy you, this must be stated in theircorrespondence. No other reference will be necessary. Please do not submit extra references.

** Please note: it is preferable imperative that your referee can comment on your Irish language ability.

All documentation must be received by/postmarked on Tuesday 31st May 2016. If for any reason a reference will be late, please include a covering letter with your application explaining the omission.

Next Steps

It is anticipated that British Council will not interview candidates, but a shortlisting process will take place. Shortlisted candidates will be proposed to schools seeking to employ an assistant for the 2016-2017academic year. Candidates will be informed of the status of their application by email and, if shortlisted for a post, can expect to be contacted by the school/s in late June. Please note that we expect there will be a limited number of posts available for the academic year 2016-2017.
