SafeSport ReportingProcedures
NPHA adheres to USA Hockey’s SafeSport Program as a means to help protect its participants from physical abuse, sexual abuse and other types of misconduct, including: emotional abuse, bullying, threats, harassment and hazing. To help prevent abuse or misconduct from occurring within our association, NPHA has adopted the following reporting guidelines.
NPHA expects that the following guidelines will be followed:
- Any misconduct on the part of players and/or coaches that violates these guidelines will be addressed immediately and/orreported immediately.
- Any reports submitted will remain anonymous.
- Notify the SafeSport Coordinator if suspected/documented abuse or misconduct has occurred.
- Alleged misconduct is will lead to a filed SafeSport compliance report with MN Hockey/USA Hockey.
- The SafeSport coordinator, along with the MN Hockey SafeSport Coordinator, will investigate the allegations, ensuring confidentiality is observed at all times.
- Investigative data will be compiled and kept with the SafeSport Coordinator until an assumption of validity can be made or dismissed.
- Investigative results are shared with the alleged offender. A written summary will be provided stating the complaint and investigative results.
- NPHA SafeSport Coordinator, two members of the NPHA Executive Board,along with District 6 SafeSport representative, MN Hockey and/or USA Hockey SafeSport representatives will schedule a formal hearing for the alleged offender.
- The complainant may choose to attend the hearing and provide a rebuttal OR they may choose to receive the information regarding potential sanctions via phone or in writing.
- Potential consequences may include, but are not limited to, the following considerations: a probationary period that would closely monitor player/coach conduct, player/coach removal from the association, removal from all coaching activities and contact with minors, and suspension from any role in the business/events/activities of the program.
Please Note:
Any allegation requiring legal follow-up will be immediately reported to the appropriate law enforcement agency and the NPHA investigative role will end.
Any report made in “bad faith” may result in disciplinary action for the participant filing the allegation.
